Welcome back to AWE's monthly newsletter!

This month we are launching a new program for trafficking survivors. Steps to Success, funded in part by the Mayors Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement (MONSE), will provide social, academic, and vocational support services to foreign-born trafficking survivors in Baltimore between the ages of 15 and 24. Program activities will include mentoring, workshops, field trips, and more!

In September, AWE provided written testimony at the Maryland Senate Finance Committee Hearing on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). AWE is authorized by the Department of Human Services (DHS) to assist Maryland residents to apply for SNAP benefits. However, persistent issues and obstacles have prevented many of our clients and Marylanders across the state from accessing SNAP benefits. AWE will continue to advocate for changes to the SNAP application process to ensure that our clients can access vital food benefits. You can read more about the hearing and SNAP access issues

We're gearing up for our annual 5K on October 22! Participants can run or walk in-person on the 22nd or virtually any time. If you're unable to join us, please consider donating to the fundraiser here to help us meet our $25,000 fundraising goal.
