Accessing Your Learning Experience

Learning isn't one-size-fits-all, and education doesn't have to be a barrier to entering and growing in the tech industry. Thanks to resources becoming more accessible, choosing to take a bootcamp, being self-taught, or a combination of both may allow you to join the industry without a college education in STEM/STEAM. Other benefits to choosing this non-traditional education path includes the opportunity to curate your curriculum, the costs, your pace, and an experience unique to you.

Understanding what works best for your learning style, lifestyle, and goals will help you make the most of your chosen program. Your selected educational plan should be structured according to your needs and lead to successfully accomplishing your goals. Keeping short and long-term goals in mind will allow you to recognize if you're getting the support you need and how to get it if you're not. Getting the skills you need to grow your career should always be personal and empowering to you.

Women Who Code is a space for resources and community support during your educational and career journey. Our
blogs, podcast, and on-demand YouTube channel are resources that can be used to grow your knowledge. You can also join a WWCode community or attend one of our digital events to expand your professional network and learn with others in a supportive global community.

Introduction to DevRel: Pachi Parra, Associate Developer Relations, New Relic

I’m Pachi, people know me as Pachi Codes on the web. I worked as a DevRel engineer for New Relic. I am a streamer, and the cofounder of Feministtech, a Brazilian community of women and non-binary people that create technical content. I’m also a mother and a community lover. Community is how I started programming, and it’s communities that make it worth waking up every morning.

What I’m going to go over today is the route I took, how I found out about it, how I started down that path, as well as what people in that role do, and the different tasks that they have to undertake. Then I’m going to give you some tips to get started if you’re interested.

So first, what is DevRel? In short, DevRel is an area within technology where we focus on developer relations and the relationship between the tech community and the company that we work for and the service we offer.
