Special Community Event
The Curiosity Cube is here!
Here's MilliporeSigma's mobile science lab, being unloaded at the library for a full day of experiments with Jaffrey Grade School on Friday and a public event, Saturday, October 1 at 10 am - 3 pm.
All are welcome on Saturday to explore the microbiome with local scientists from MilliporeSigma.
We will stay open extra hours for this special event.

Community Support Programs

Covid-19 Vaccination Clinic

Saturday, October 22 at 10 am - 1 pm
A program with the Department of Health & Human Services

The library will serve as an easy access, local venue for a State of New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services Covid-19 vaccination clinic, for children and adults, provided by On-Site Medical Services.  
Vaccination is a personal choice.  This service is provided at this time to allow for those who choose to vaccinate to have maximum protection before the holiday season. 
No appointments.
Primary doses and the new booster, all brands, will be available.
Please bring a photo ID and your vaccination card.

WIC Supplemental Nutrition Program

Provided by Southwestern Community Services
Appointments now available at the library each month!

The library is pleased to be partnering with Southwestern Community Services to offer a space at the library for WIC appointments.  The WIC program provides supplemental foods, health care referrals, and nutrition education at no cost to the families of low-income pregnant, breastfeeding and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and to infants and children up to 5 years of age.
Appointments can be made by calling the WIC office at 603.352.7512 ext. 4234 or 1.800.529.0005 ext 4234.

Fuel Assistance Appointments Available

Tuesday, October 25 - 10 am - 4 pm, by appointment

Southwestern Community Services returns for Fuel Assistance appointments on Tuesday, October 25. Qualified households in Cheshire and Sullivan Counties may receive assistance with fuel and electric bills. Benefits may be available even if heat is included in your rent.

Applications are by appointment only. Call SCS Energy Services at 603-352-7512 to schedule your appointment.

Jaffrey Food Pantry

A special shout out of thanks to the Jaffrey Food Pantry.  Not only does the Pantry provide those afterschool snacks we distribute to literally dozens of kids each day, but their volunteers just dropped off full grocery bags at the library, for those times when you need a little extra help. Just like Farm Fresh Checkout, all are welcome -- no questions, no application.  We are just friends helping friends in a really great community.

Creative Opportunities

Our New Sewing Studio is Open!

You can now reserve your own personal time in our Sewing Studio for your sewing projects and mending.  Make your reservations (in two hour blocks) via this form.
You can bring all your own supplies or use ours! 
Thanks to generous local donations, we provide:
  • Your own private space to work with a lovely sewing machine, gifted to us by a community member!
  • Scissors, yard sticks, rotary cutter and mat, iron, etc.
  • Donated fabric, thread and notions.
  • Sample projects, plans, and patterns.
  • A TV with YouTube tutorials!
We do not provide instruction by staff, other than the project plans available. 
You must be over age 13 to use the space, or bring a responsible older friend/caregiver.  Registration is required through this form.

Homemade Holidays


Holiday Card Making with Watercolors & the Warfield Birds - Thursday, November 10 at 4 pm - The Warfield Birds will serve as our models for painting holiday cards, much like our summer watercolor program.  All materials - including cards and envelopes will be provided, so you save money while creating  holiday cards that are truly meaningful.  Open to ages 8 and up.  Caregiver participation required under age 9. Registration is required.

Upcoming Adult Programs

Chief Justice Gordon MacDonald: How the Courts Work

Tuesday, October 18 at 6:30 pm at the library (in-person only)

Who better to teach us about the courts than our very own Chief Justice of the New Hampshire Supreme Court!   Chief Justice Gordon J. MacDonald will provide an in-person presentation at the library about how the judiciary works, its relation to the other branches of government, its role in our democracy and its importance in preserving the rule of law.  As former attorney general, he will also share information about that role with the executive branch.   A strong supporter of civics education, Chief Justice MacDonald eagerly awaits your Q & A, during and following the presentation.

Mahjong Meetup

Weekly on Tuesdays at 1 pm
Ms. Eileen leads our Mahjong group in a non-competitive, friendly atmosphere where you can learn to play Mahjong or practice/perfect your game.  Mahjong enthusiasts of all levels welcome.

Humanities Book Discussions

Our online book discussion group for adults features a different Humanities discipline - history, literature, philosophy, ethics, archaeology, anthropology, linguistics, geography, the law or legal theory, classics, and cultural or religious studies -  each month.  We will join a humanities expert for a shared book discussion on Zoom, in the comfort of your own living room.  We will alternate monthly between fiction and non-fiction.
  • Tuesday, October 11 at 6:30 pm on Zoom - When All Is Said - Books are available now. Our facilitator is Carrie Brown, who holds a Ph.D. in American Literature and Folklore from the University of Virginia.
  • Tuesday, November 8 at 6:30 pm on Zoom - Unredeemed Captive - Books will be available on Oct. 12.  Our facilitator is Damian Costello, who received his Ph.D. in theological studies from the University of Dayton and specializes in the intersection of Catholic theology, Indigenous spiritual traditions, and colonial history.

Magic the Gathering - Afterschool Club for Teens

Mondays 2:30 - 4:30 pm
Magic the Gathering enthusiasts and beginners alike are invited to join us for this weekly afterschool club. All Magic cards are provided and are yours to keep. This program is made possible, thanks to a grant from MagiKids. Snacks provided.
This is a teen-only program.  No need to register -- just head over after school.

Youth Book Clubs & Storytimes

Up & Atom Storytime - Weekly, on Wednesdays at 10:30 am
This drop-in storytime for children of all ages features stories and activities focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. We meet weekly in the Bean Room for a story and a fingerplay, followed by a choice of science and art activities in the Lab and at the Cutter Creativity Wall. All are welcome. Caregiver participation required.
This event made possible by a STEAM Learning grant from MilliporeSigma.

My First Book Club - Ages 4 - 6 -  Friday, October 14 at 4 pm
Join Ms. Eileen for our monthly book club for ages 4-6. Sign up and come to the library to check out your copy of this month’s title. Read it at home and then join us for a child-sized discussion and activity in the library.
Caregiver participation may be required for the activity segment of the book club meeting.
Registration required.

Whodunit Book Club - Ages 7 - 10 - Friday, October at 4 pm
Help crack the case in this Whodunit Book Club for mystery lovers. Youth ages 7-10 check out a copy of the month's book selection, then meet in the library for a discussion and hands-on activity that puts participants' new sleuthing skills to the test. A guest officer from the Jaffrey Police Department may join each month to lend an inside perspective on getting to the bottom of crime.
