“Happy Birthday” to Donnell Moore (September 19th). Wishing you a beautiful day with happiness, joy and! the best that life has to offer! 
 
The September offering is for Food Sharing. Currently, this applies to our supplying bagged meals and bottled water for the Night Ministry. We have provided 630 sack meals so far this year. The funds for this are in arrears, so we are hoping for generous contributions to replenish the fund. Thank you for your support.     Valorie Tatum (now Minister Valorie Tatum) is a native of Chicago, IL. She is a retired Educator of 26 years in which she served as a Learning Behavior Specialist for Chicago Public Schools. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from National Louis University School of Education, as well as a Certification in Black Studies from McCormick Theology Seminary.   She is  currently working on her Master’s of Divinity. She also is a Licensed Pharmacist Technician, Certification in Coaching and Positive Psychology from the CAPP Institute, Certification in Magazine Writing from the Institute of Children’s Literature in West Redding Connecticut. She is a member and Treasurer of the Board of the Beloved Community Family Wellness Center. She is also a member of The National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. She is a member of The Chicago Black Authors Network.  
    She is also a LifeTime member of the Black Methodist Church Renewal supporting the United Methodist Church of the Northern Illinois Conference Southern District. She was a nominee for the Golden Apple Teacher Award in 2003 and in 2004, she was honored in Who’s Who in America.  She is a member of Author/Artist Promoting Success Publishing Company in which she has received 3 awards. She is the author of 8 books and part of several civic organizations(Chicago Foundation of Education, Educators For Education, RAGE(Residential Advocates For Greater Englewood) in the Chicago area.  She is also a member of the Englewood Rust United Methodist Church in which she serves on 3 committees(Pastor Parish Relations Committee, Sensational Angels House Church, and Englewood Rust Lay Leader / Layservant Board). She is an aunt of 4 generations with 63 nieces and nephews in her family legacy.

Saturday, September 17 at 10:00 am, Tracy Lampkins is hosting a Lovely Lawn Day & Plant Give Away. Please come out and join us.
Please join us with Meet and Mingle with our new field placement student, Valorie, on September 18, after the Sunday worship, in the fellowship hall. Lite refreshments will be provided.
We will make the sandwiches for the Night Ministry on Wednesday. September 21. You can deliver your sandwiches directly to the Chicago Theological Seminary parking lot (1407 E. 60th Street) between 4:30 to 5:30 pm, or contact the church office to pick up yours. We would like to prepare a new video for the new and returning students in this upcoming new school year. We invite you to join this project by answering "What's your concern about our worlds?" On August 7 and 14, Rev. Wei-Jen will prepare filming equipment at the Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall for anyone who would like to provide their thoughts. If you would like to record it on your own device, please also send it to Rev. Wei-Jen, by September 25.

(1) Video format: HD resolution, most of the time the best picture quality on your smartphone, or on your laptop. any file format will be fine.
(2) Put your phone in the horizontal direction.
(3) Choose a quieter place for better audio quality.

The Presbytery of Chicago (PCUSA) will have the regular assembly on September 20, 4:00 pm. More information is coming or you can also visit this webpage for updated information, https://www.chicagopresbytery.org/assembly/. You can also sign up for a regular assembly newsletter (click here to sign up).
Join us for the 2022 CMA (UCC) Fall Meeting on Zoom (October 3, 6:00 pm). Some details are still being worked out, but it is gearing up to be a wonderful event, including conversations on Solar for Churches with Daryle Brown and WISE with Rev. Jon Gilbert Martinez. We will also be voting on the new slate of officers. More details will be shared once they are finalized. All are welcomed but REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. After registering for the meeting, you will receive a confirmation email from Zoom with the information to join. Registration link is here (link).
2022 IL Conference (UCC) Annual Celebration Registration is OPEN!
The theme for this year's Annual Celebration is "RECONNECT: Finding a Way Forward in a Post-Pandemic World." This will once again be an entirely virtual event using Zoom technology.The Annual Celebration Planning Committee has been hard at work putting together this year's event, and more details will be shared soon about how to participate and sign-up for the various workshops being offered. But until then, here is a sneak peek at what you can look forward to at this year's event.
COST: $50 per person. Retired Clergy are free. Youth are free.
