MEET OUR INTERIM RECTOR ...
The Rev. Stacey Grossman is Epiphany's Interim Rector
and will be the Celebrant at the 8 am and 10 am services this Sunday.
Dear All,

As I work in the office this week I am reminded about the human effort and physical labor that it takes to make a church run. Besides the bulldozer, dump truck, asphalt fragrance and the sound of people working, I also witnessed many parishioners coming in and out, bulletins being printed, phone calls answered and bag brown lunches being prepared and then served to our unhoused friends: new and holy connections being made in all of these encounters.

This Sunday we say farewell to our dear Music Director Marian Smock whose ministry and work among us have made an indelible difference. Please do come, if you can, to the ten o’clock service, and stay for the first “in person” Coffee Hour Post-Pandemic honoring Marian’s ministry among us.

I am  also very pleased to announce that this week, we have called an Interim Music Director, Lynne Secrist. Lynne will begin her music ministry with us on Sunday, October 2; she will introduce herself in next week’s Chatter. If you have ever wanted to sing in a fun, low key choir, now is the time to step forward! You know the famous saying that “the one who sings prays twice”, and who doesn’t love that?

Love, Stacey

Sunday, September 25, is our Music Director Marian Smock's last day.  Please join us for Coffee Hour in the Fellowship Hall after the 10 am service to wish her well.

Dear Marian,

We are saddened by your departure but confident that your next life chapter will be a new and exciting spiritual adventure. Your gentle, creative spirit has given itself to our music program for five years. You have inspired us with your music, your knowledge, your reliability and your resilience through tough times and joyous celebrations. The gracious music of your presence will be missed.

Good luck and Godspeed.

With love and thanksgiving,

Carol Marshall, for the vestry and congregation of the Church of the Epiphany

How Can You Help?

Give to the Bishop’s Disaster Relief Fund. All funds go directly to helping those in need, whether in gift cards, emergency shelter, gas cards, or Project (Re)Start. As we know, fire season is far from over, and your help is needed now. Thank you to those who have already given generously. Your gifts make a huge impact in the lives of those in need.

The 2022 Diocese Convention is rapidly approaching, and there are still opportunities to serve the diocese on the Standing Committee and Board of Trustees. Bishop Megan invites you to consider nominating yourself or someone else for election to one of these vital ministries.

Climate Action Opportunity at Convention for Youth Representative

Do you know a young person concerned about climate change and ready to raise their voice to support meaningful climate action? The Commission on the Environment is seeking a young person (aged 30 or younger) to join our team at the upcoming Diocesan convention, Oct. 21-22 in Redding. We are championing a Climate Action Resolution that will be voted on by the delegates at the convention and we want to do all we can to ensure its passage. We value youth leadership and are seeking a young person to help:

  •  Staff an information table
  •  Talk to delegates about the resolution
  • Promote the Commission and our goals
  • Have fun!

We welcome your ideas and participation! A stipend is available to support travel costs. Please contact Miriam Casey, (650) 380-2747 mlcasey7@yahoo.com if you are interested.
