Delighted to hear at this panel the impact the @thecarpentries had in Mexico. Seeds planted much earlier help grow a global community of open knowledge #CZIOpenSci

Updates from the Curriculum Team

Two members of the Curriculum Team, Toby Hodges and Zhian Kamvar, attended RSECon22 in Newcastle, UK, where they presented a workshop introducing The Carpentries Workbench. The session was not recorded, but the workshop materials are available online for anyone who wants to learn more about the new lesson infrastructure.

Two beta pilots of a new Data Carpentry curriculum have taken place this month. The Data Carpentry: Image Processing with Python curriculum has been taught at workshops hosted by the Earlham Institute (UK) and the University of Würzburg (Germany). Community members at both workshops have collected plenty of feedback and notes, and have begun to open issues and pull requests on the lesson repository based on their experience. All this will contribute to the further improvement of the lesson as we prepare for its full release.

In-person workshops are back!

The Workshop Administration Team is excited to announce that we are planning to offer in-person workshops. The Core Team created a working group to help identify the steps needed to safely transition back to our "old norm". To help us prepare, you may see a few pilot workshops on the Instructor Signup Sheet. We do hope that you will sign up to teach and share feedback of the experience.

We will be hosting a Themed Community Discussion on Wednesday, 16 November 2022 15:00 UTC and Friday, 18 November 2022 00:00 UTC. Be sure to signup on the Etherpad to be a part of the discussion.
