An excerpt from The Five Feasts of Mary Prayer Journal novena in honor of the Seven Sorrows of Mary

"Who can describe the sorrow and anguish of Mary’s heart when the body of Jesus was taken from the cross, when her tearful eyes fell upon His disfigured features! The pure and holy and beauteous form of her Son was a mass of clotted blood and unsightly wounds; and yet, disfigured as it was, there shone in His countenance a clear, calm expression of divine majesty. Now Mary views the wounds of that sacred body; she looks at the gap made in His side by the cruel spear, and can almost see the Sacred Heart of Jesus, all bruised and broken for love of man. Before her vision passes in detail His life and her own. Memory presents to her mind every day and hour of their quiet, happy life at Nazareth. Is it to be wondered, then, that at this bitter moment her sorrow was so great that, as St. Anselm observes, she should have died had she not been sustained by a miracle of divine omnipotence?"

The Five Feasts of Mary Prayer Journal contains novenas for each of the five Marian feasts: The Immaculate Conception, the Nativity of Mary, the Annunciation, the Seven Sorrows of Mary, and the Assumption

The novenas are sourced from
Mary, Help of Christians, circa 1909

The
Five Feasts of Mary Prayer Journal contains 95 pages of content, including meditations, prayers, litanies, and classical artwork, and is available for $19.99

An announcement...

With rare exception, saints aren't made overnight. Of course, there are some people who have been given Divine graces, but for the rest of us, it's the work of a lifetime. Like any journey, the journey to sainthood is taken one day—and one step—at a time. It's about making little changes that over years result in a total transformation. Let's face it: being a saint is difficult, and if it were easy, everyone would do it.

Catholic Treehouse is hard at work on a new project to help people take the small—but challenging—steps necessary to become saints.

On November 1st, we're kicking off The Saint Challenge. We know this is a giant teaser of an announcement, but stay tuned for more information.

Rosary roundup: St. Michael Festival Silent Auction

This month are two of the Rosaries that were featured at the St. Michael Festival Silent Auction over Labor Day weekend.

This Rosary has fire-polished Czech glass beads throughout. The Aves are light purple 7mm faceted beads, while the Paters are 8mm light peach rosebuds with a partial metallic coating. The three Aves on the drop are pink 8mm faceted bicones. This has a highly-detailed reproduction antique brass Crucifix and center, and came with a velvet storage bag, hand-finished wood sacramentals box, and, of course, our lifetime warranty. The winning bid for this Heirloom Rosary was $145.

I initially saw the black-and-white agate beads online while shopping for some others, and said, "those look interesting" so I bought them, not knowing when I'd find a use for them. So this Rosary wound up being a purely artistic stretch. The Paters are 8mm hand-made Italian millefiori glass beads from Venice, and the Aves are 6mm black and white genuine agate. The center is an open Marian design, and the Crucifix is a highly-detailed Pardon Crucifix. The winning bid for this Heritage Plus Rosary was $95.
