Wellness finds to live better, not perfectly

Whenever I discover a new little activity I can do while sitting on a comfy pillow on the floor that removes me from my screens… that’s amore. Closing my laptop to do some stretches, hurling my phone across the room to read a book, going on Airplane Mode to just… be.

I learned a new one this week: Eye yoga. Admittedly, this made me laugh to myself a little. It sounds silly as heck. My eyeballs do not have the range—they sit in my skull and I’m not really sure how they’re supposed to get into different positions.

That is a misunderstanding of eye yoga, it turns out. Thanks to my colleagues who just wrote an explainer on the practice, I now know that it actually involves things like rapid blinking, eye rolling, following a figure eight, and placing warmed-up hands over your sockets, to name a few. And there are a number of benefits: It may improve eyesight, relieve eye strain, and strengthen the mind-body connection. (Don’t confuse it with vision therapy, though, it is not for correcting certain eye conditions.)

I for one am intrigued by the palming aspect of eye yoga. It sounds soothing, and nearly all of these practices are highly accessible. You just need to be in a seated position and give yourself ten to 20 minutes of downtime. You can see a few exercises in action in this TikTok.

PS — Have you tried eye yoga before? Because I’d love to hear about your experience. Just hit reply.

Another powdered beverage (okay we should probably do a review roundup of these), this time, from Plink. If you have a hard time staying hydrated because water bores you, you can mix it up with Plink’s electrolyte flavor packets, which come in pomegranate berry, pineapple, and watermelon.

Not a new product, but new to me! I just started using Osea’s Ocean Cleansing Mudd and it’s amazing. My sensitive skin feels clean, fresh, and—my favorite part—tingly. I love waking up with it.

Shoutout to this week’s Scouts for their tips! Anthony A. recommended Talty protein bars, and says they remind him of RXBARs from back in the day. “They seem to be geared toward campers, hikers, and other outdoor enthusiasts which makes sense since my friend who sent them to me is an avid outdoorsman.” He says the peanut butter and jelly flavor is delicious.

To Katherine L. for putting Bare Health on our radar. Searching for a doctor can be a disheartening and taxing process, and we are big fans of any platform dedicated to doing the search for you, especially if that includes filtering for size-friendly and gender-affirming doctors nearby.

And Kristyn G., who doesn’t love Athletic Greens because the included biotin makes her break out, recommends Organifi green apple greens and, if you like things a little sweeter, Beam’s super greens pink lemonade flavor. Ora Organics is next on her to-try list.

Magic Spoon cereal boxes and bowls of cereal

Cereal, historically and often, is sugary sweet because it’s full of sugar. It’s not healthy, but it’s like dessert for breakfast, and it involves nearly no prep. And that’s what makes this new trend of healthy cereals so great. You get the ease and sweetness and nostalgia of your childhood breakfast but it packs some nutrients. Few are doing it as good as Magic Spoon, and our readers can get $5 off their order with the code NESS
