Park(ing) Day is a global, public, participatory project where people across the world temporarily repurpose curbside parking spaces and convert them into public parks and social spaces to advocate for safer, greener, and more equitable streets for people. And tomorrow we're going a step further - we're making the whole Werderplatz car-free. In the place of space-wasting automobiles will be live music, food, drinks and good times. Although we played some part in organizing the Werderplatz portion of Parking Day, this is an international movement and there will be things happening all over Karlsruhe and beyond.
We'll be joined by friends from Die Anstoß e.V., Soup du Jour e.V., Schon wieder Studio, LA Frisör, Afro Sisters, Foodsharing, Sarah Kirsch Kunst, Die Werderplatz-WG and whoever else might wander in to occupy a space.
On the live music stage near Electric Eel, Chris Cacavas' YeeHaw band will start things off at 18:00 sharp, followed by Loscher& and finishing up the night will be the infamous Cocktail Harbor Band and all of their faux-tropical, yacht-rock-funk-pop-jazz majesty. Come check it out.

It's Negroni Week and we're siphoning off all profits from the sale of that crimson concoction this week to fund a future evening of fun at the Eel - namely, the Uppertones on Saturday, October 29th! A few years ago, the Eels took a night off and headed down to Freiburg for dinner, drinks and some live music. It just so happened that the Uppertones were playing at Cafe Atlantik and Hank the DJ had put us on the guest list. It was incredible. I've thought about their set for years and imagined a day they would be able to play on Werderplatz. Well, the tour schedule didn't really allow for a summer show outside, so we'll do it inside in the intensely intimate setting that is our "stage". So save the date! DJ LowNat will get us started and then it's a head-first dive into one of the classiest cocktail bands working today. I cannot wait!
