Nominations for Myross Bush School Values Award this week are:

Miller Rutledge for Ngakau Tapatahi “Doing the right thing even when no one else is looking.”
You are a very reliable and trustworthy class member. You always settle to your mahi, and when you finish, you find other on-task activities to complete. You encourage others to get the job done, and look for ways to help whenever there is an opportunity to do so. You are a leader in Kawaka, and we think you rock!

Brock Smith for Whakapai Ake “Be the best you can be.” Brock, you are a reflective learner. You work incredibly hard to achieve your learning goals, and it has been fantastic to see you hungry for more and wanting to improve! Ka pai Brock!

Madisyn Kennedy for Kotahitanga '"Getting along together." Madisyn is a kind, caring and thoughtful student who is always looking for ways to help others. She is a super Big Buddy to her Matai friend, always giving her buddy time and attention even in her own time. Ka pai Madisyn, you are a great role model.

Abigail Rankin for displaying Whakapai Ake “Be the best you can be.” Your leadership in our dance workshops has been much appreciated. The strength you have shown when interacting and discussing with others has been invaluable. You listen to the ideas of others and take these onboard, while thinking carefully about what will look interesting in our class dance. Tumeke Abigail!

Victoria Duncan for Whakapai Ake “Be the best you can be.” Victoria has been growing in confidence and it is super awesome to see her taking more risks in her learning. She is becoming more resilient as she realises mistakes are ok and are part of being a learner. This is especially evident in Reading. Tino pai, Victoria!

Jordie McGregor for Te Papa Atawhai “Reduce, reuse, recycle and restore, replenish.” Jordie you are a fantastic helper at tidy up time and any other time you see work needs to be done. You start straight away and carry on until the work is finished. You are an amazing role model for the new students and we are lucky to have you in Matai. Tino pai Jordie!

The Values trophy was awarded to:
Emma Watt for Ngakau Tapatahi “Doing the right thing even when no one else is looking.” Emma is a student who is careful to make the best choices at all times. She is helpful, reliable and a great role model to others in Rawe. Tumeke Emma!

Over the next few Newsletters, I want to gather community input and feedback on elements of the school we are reviewing. This will be collected through "mini-surveys" and the results will then be shared with the community.

Outcome to Mini-survey #1: School Values and Vision survey outcome (These results will be discussed at the next Board meeting)

Mini-survey #2: Community Consultation

The Chatbus has been running for a year and a half now and is having a positive impact on our ākonga. Having a Counsellor onsite one day a week for the whole year is a valuable resource not many primary schools can say they offer their students, parents and staff.

The Chatbus South Trust wish to see this service established for the long term and are looking for community sponsors who would financially partner with us. If you are interested in getting behind this cause, please email me at principal@myrossbush.school.nz
A reminder that we ask parents to drop off and collect their children between 8.15am and 3.15pm
Unless they are bus children, students on the school grounds outside this timeframe are the responsibility of parents.
If the pickup timeframe is a challenge, we encourage you to enrol in an afterschool programme like "XO Kids" which can pick students up from Myross Bush School.

Sport
On Friday 2 September Myross Bush senior students headed over to Makarewa to play in the annual Exchange. The hosts turned it on in the netball and demonstrated foresight and height intercepting our passes to secure a tidy win and take hold of the Collinson Trophy for the year.
In the rugby, there were some excellent tackling from both teams and some exciting tries. In the end Myross Bush School took home the Rutledge Sheild after an entertaining afternoon. CLICK HERE to view more photos on our Facebook page.
Congratulations to our MBS Magic Netball Team who finished this season winning their competition! They beat Waverley 13-12 in a very close final yesterday.

Special thanks to Fleur Morris, Jodie Rutledge and Kelly Gentle for all their hard work growing our players this year!

Congratulations to Jayda and Keeley Templeton who recently swam in the Hokonui Sprints.
Jayda got two 2nd placings and Keeley swam in eight races coming 1st in them all! Teno pai rawe girls!
