Year 8 Camp
Over the past week, our Year 8 students have all completed a two-day, one-night Camp at YMCA Shakespear Regional Park, Te Haruhi Bay. This was a very positive and exhilarating experience for our young men who got to know each other better outside of the classroom. Activities such as kayaking, coasteering, mountain boarding, rock climbing, team challenges, and safe boating provided opportunities for our young men to grow in resilience, learn new skills, and persevere amidst challenges.
Thank you to our awesome YMCA instructors, our wonderful parent helpers, and our simply amazing Year 8 teaching team for providing this learning experience and opportunity.

Te Wiki o te Reo Māori
This week we celebrated “Te petihana reo Māori“ the 50th anniversary of the Māori Language petition.
Throughout the week Te Ngākau Tapu – Sacred Heart College has been celebrating with daily reo competitions, staff korero and karakia/prayer, hitori/history of the petition, and re-introducing the school haka. The school haka practises will commence in all homerooms for the remainder of the school term culminating in a school-wide haka competition in the final week of term. It has been several years since the haka taonga “Te Ngākau tapu” has been presented and we look forward to bringing this kaupapa alive.
