FROM THE DIRECTOR

Congratulations for all of the performances this weekend! The first football game was a success, for both the band and the football team. On Saturday at Woodgrove HS, Fairfax placed 2nd in the AAAA Class. They also placed 4th overall out of all classes. Great start to the season!

Big Thank Yous!

I’ve never been more proud of winning second place! It truly reflected everyone's hard work. Thank you to all the parents who volunteered over the weekend.  The band is on a roll! More volunteers are needed for Homecoming on Friday and our next competition on Oct.1!

Huge thank you for last-minute help!
Glenn Cavert, past Booster President, has been troubleshooting the band’s on-field sound system all week. He has tracked down parts trying to get old and new systems to work together. He even hooked the system up to his truck for power at practice on Thursday afternoon. The band appreciates Glenn’s above and beyond efforts! Kristy DeWitt is sewing special flags for the Color Guard. Betsy DeMarco and Kristy sewed the large vinyl panels together for the show's visual effects. Kristi and a group of parents did an amazing job getting the panels on the field yesterday. I'm incredibly grateful for these talented parents!

8th Grade Night This Tuesday

We have two exciting opportunities to recruit new band members! Instead of our traditional middle school night, this year our school will be hosting two different events: 8th Grade Night and Pyramid Night.
  • Tuesday, September 20th -- 8th Graders will visit our band students during their practice. We will serve all students a pizza dinner first. (Please let Mr Freeman know if you will not be eating pizza so he can have an accurate head count.)
  • Friday, October 7th -- Feeder elementary schools and middle schools in the area are invited to watch a home football game and participate with our band. (More details to come.)
We need your help to make both events a success. Please sign up here to contribute food and drink or volunteer.

Woodworking Help Needed ASAP!

Mr. Bach, the show’s designer, needs help constructing lightweight “waves” for the show.  They will help visualize the theme and give the Color Guard a place to hide their equipment while they are performing.

Please contact Mr. Bach at bachmarchingarts@gmail.com.
