David was affirmed by God to be King. That is quite a thing to be called to. We are called to do things each day that bring glory to God. How are you affirmed by God and by others around you?
We are affirmed through our successes and our confidences. We are affirmed by others recognizing God’s work in us. I invite you to affirm yourself daily with the following two statements:
- My life is filled with an abundance of goodness.
- I am beautiful just the way God made me.
Let’s pray...
Dear God,
Give me strength when I am weak, love when I feel forsaken, courage when I’m afraid, comfort when I feel alone, and peace whenever I need it. Amen
Be a Blessing,
Pastor Scott

2 Samuel 4:1-5; 12
It can be hard to know if we are truly answering God’s call, but the people around us can affirm us and keep us on the right path.

On the second Sunday of each month, we have Fellowship Time immediately after the 9 AM Worship Service. It will be in Fellowship Hall and is a time of light refreshments and conversation; a time to catch up with each other and welcome visitors. The next Fellowship Time will be on Sunday, October 9. Please join us!
NOTE:
Fellowship Time is volunteer driven. There is a sign-up sheet outside of Fellowship Hall. Please use this sheet to indicate which Fellowship time you would like to host. Instructions are found on the sign-up sheet. Currently, we are doing Fellowship Time once a month. That means if we have 12 volunteers, then each person only has to host once a year. If interest is high enough, then we would also consider having Fellowship Time more frequently.

The Thursday morning bible study starts at 11:00 AM. It is held in Fellowship Hall and via Zoom. The Zoom link can be found in the church calendar on the church website.
Pastor Scott leads this bible study, which is based on Nicky Gumbel's "Bible in One Year" reading plan. This study is designed to encourage you to read through the entire Bible in 2022. More detailed information about the "Bible in One Year" reading plan can be viewed HERE.

The DeBows Food Pantry is open on the 2nd & 4th Monday each month, 6-8pm. The next Food Pantry distribution is Monday, October 10.
DeBows uses an "Appointment Only" system to distribute the food. People can make an appointment by calling 848-373-8844.
Please note: participants need to call for an appointment by 5:00 PM on the Saturday prior to the scheduled food pantry day. This gives the Food Pantry volunteers time to prepare the food for distribution. "Thank You" for your cooperation.
Please contact Pastor Scott if you need further information or would like to volunteer to help with the Food Pantry ministry.

Upcoming Outreach at DeBows
As we enter Autumn and approach the holiday season, we wish to highlight two upcoming outreach projects. Watch for more details in the near future. Remember, we serve Jesus when we serve others.
Operation Christmas Child
October thru mid-November
DeBows will start its mission campaign for Operation Christmas Child in early October. It seems a little early to be thinking about Christmas, but please remember the items collected for this mission activity must be processed and delivered all around the world. You may pickup a shoe box and instructions at church on Sunday mornings. Please return your filled shoe box to the church no later than Sunday, November 20. Gina Pezzino is coordinating this mission activity and will ensure the shoe boxes are delivered to the regional drop off location. National collection week is November 14–21, 2022. Click HERE for more detailed information about Operation Christmas Child.
Holiday Gift Drive
DeBows will again support The Children's Home Society of New Jersey by participating in their Holiday Gift Drive. Help at-risk babies & children have an unforgettable holiday this year! These gifts are so much more than toys and clothing: your gift may be the only present a local child unwraps on Christmas morning, and it will remind them that someone cares. Your gift will give a child hope for a better future.
A list of children to support will be made available by the end of October. We will be collecting the gifts during November and they will be delivered to the Children's Home Society during the first week of December. Please watch for more information soon.

DeBows UMC is blessed with talented people who love to praise God. We pray for each other and give back to the Lord the blessings we’ve received. We welcome newcomers to join our music ministry and share and grow their talent for God’s glory. Please contact Grayce by email at music@debowsumc.org for any questions or to discuss opportunities to participate in our music ministry.
Chime Choir — Rehearses Sunday morning 8:30 to 8:45 AM and rings the introit to worship on Sunday morning (except on Revival Sunday). New members are always welcome. Ability to sight read music and prior experience not necessary. Ability to be present and have fun very important!
Praise Band — Rehearses Tuesday nights at 7:00 PM and plays a five-song set once a month for Revival Sunday, usually the last Sunday of the month. Check email and church calendar for exceptions. All instruments welcome.
* More information about the DeBows music ministry can be viewed here. Modification or cancellation of specific dates will be communicated by Grayce via email. Please check email for any cancellations before coming out.
