Canary Media Last week, for the second time in three years, California’s power grid was strained to the limit by record-high demand in the midst of a searing heat wave. But just like in 2020, California consumers came to the rescue. So, why isn’t the state going all in on incentives?
Office of the Governor As a record-setting heat wave across the western U.S. impacted through California, Governor Gavin Newsom announced that he has signed legislation to help protect Californians from more frequent and severe heat waves driven by climate change. The signed Budget legislation will direct $315 million over two years to advance implementation of the Extreme Heat Action Plan.
Utility Dive Growing California power system reliability threats called by the state’s system operator could be relieved by a price signal based on real-time pricing, or RTP, linked to smart customer-owned resources through new enabling technologies, according to the California Public Utilities Commission Energy Division’s ”CalFUSE” proposal.
Clean Technica California bill AB 2316 - which passed the state legislature - greatly expands the policy incentives for community solar which will reward projects that include battery storage. California designed this bill to benefit customers, developers, workers and the overall power system at the same time. .
