Fall NWEA MAP Assessment

September 27: 5th Grade ELA

Preparing for MAP

A student who is well-rested, well-fed, and has a positive attitude about assessment is best prepared for testing. You can help your child do his or her best by considering these tips:

  • Make sure that your child is in school and on time on test days.

  • Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and eats a healthy breakfast before each day of testing.

  • Remind your child that this assessment is only one measure. Emphasize that you have confidence in his or her ability to do the best job possible.

  • Remind your child to listen to the directions and read each question carefully during testing.

Communication of Student Scores

Your child’s scores will be available in Skyward after administration is complete and all reports are available.  We will reach out when scores are available for parents to view. We appreciate your ongoing support.

Field Trips

We are excited to once again be able to extend learning opportunities for students with field trips. In the past, a field trip fee was included for all students in their registration fees. This year, fees for individual field trips will be charged to your child’s Skyward account. As field trips are scheduled, you will receive information regarding the field trip as well as the cost.

Picture Day- Tuesday, September 27th

Students will take their individual photos on Tuesday this week. Ordering is done online only. Flyers were sent home last week. As a reminder, students should not wear green clothing for photos as the photographers do utilize a green screen. Thanks!

Reporting an Absence

If your child will be absent from school for any reason, please complete the appropriate absence form, which can also be found on the Elm School website.

Reporting your student absent for a Illness-related reason

Reporting your student absent for a NON-Illness-related reason

Elm School and District News

Rotary Run Charity Classic

The Rotary Run Charity Classic is a great event for the entire family.  Now in its 28th year, the Classic welcomes runners and walkers of every fitness level to participate.  Whether you're an avid runner, run occasionally as a hobby, or aren't a runner whatsoever, there is a run (3K, 5K, 10K) or walk (3K, 5K) for you!  On Sunday, Oct. 2, each event will start and end at The Community House, with the first taking off at 8:30 a.m. Don't miss the fun and festivities as you'll see several D181 families and friends along with teachers, administrators, and even the school mascots!

The District 181 Foundation is a beneficiary of the Rotary Run and this contribution each year is the largest individual contribution the D181 Foundation receives.  All funds go to supporting Foundation programs that extend learning and enhance the curriculum for all D181 students, teachers, and parents. KIDS Grants, Community Speakers Series, Young Writers, the D181 Student Art Show, are just some of the exceptional programs that benefit directly from the Rotary Run.
