High Legh Teas

Cakes at the High Legh Teas
Many thanks to organiser Lesley McIntyre and to all those who baked and/or helped.

Our customers praised us for the excellent quality of our cakes, pastries and sandwiches. Really nice to hear given the hard work we had all put in to make this a successful event.

The profit was in the region of £500, an important contribution to our funds for the 2023 visit from Meung

French Film Night

Sunday 2nd October 6:40 pm

Our French film night is on Sunday 2nd October at the Youth and Community Centre, (downstairs), doors open 6:40 for a 7pm start.  This event is open to non-members, so if you know anyone who would like to come then please invite them. We will be offering a slice of cake with a drink (tea/coffee/wine) afterwards.

Entrance is free, but we need to know numbers for catering. Please tell Peter (pjmcintyre@virginmedia.com) or reply to this email to let us know you are coming

We will be accepting voluntary donations towards the cost of the event. So please bring along some cash!

The film will be Au Revoir Là-Haut ("See You Up There" was the English title). It will be in French with English subtitles. It is described as a black comedy inspired by actual scandalous events from the final days of WW1 and the year or two thereafter. It was recommended to us by more than one French friend. A brief synopsis is available on our Web Site here and elsewhere on the internet.

Dates of the Exchange in 2023

Dates are confirmed as Thursday April 27th to Monday May 1st.

Getting Ready for the visit

The most urgent task is to sort out anyone who wants to take part but hasn't got a partner family in France. If you would like to be involved in the exchange but don't have a partner family in Meung then please let us know.

The visit is over 6 months away, but for those of you who have a partner family in Meung, can you give us any guidance as to whether you expect to take part in the exchange visit or not. We don't need a definite commitment at this stage but once we have a rough idea of numbers then we can start planning for the visit.

If you know at this early stage that you won't be involved, then please let us know.

We would also welcome any suggestions of things that we could organise whilst our visitors are here.

Upcoming Events

After last year's popularity we will be holding another Beaujolais Nouveau evening this year on Friday 18th November, which will be held at Lymm Hall. Further details will follow.

Our AGM will be on Friday, 9th December. The location is yet to be decided. We are open to ideas for events to hold early next year. We would like to organise another Zoom event with our partners in Meung.
