Hello everyone, and welcome to the month of October!
With the weather beginning to warm for spring, we have a full month that is jam-packed with all kinds of sewing and crafty events - including the spectacular Perth Sewing & Craft Extravaganza weekend!
We also have a stack of Brother A80 machines in-store for the entire month for you all to have a sew on, including a Westalee ruler quilting day on these machines as well! And, there will also be a visiting Luminaire XP3 machine in the tail-end of the month for our launch day!
We are also having a bit of Halloween fun on our machine embroidery club day this month. Sprinkled throughout our normal club day activities will be a couple of fun Halloween games, as well as the chance to dress in costume to get your entry for free!

With all of this going on - including all of our regular overlocker classes and embroidery classes - we have had to cancel our Design Center class for October. But, if you still need your fill of Brother Design Center goodness, make sure you do come to the Luminaire XP3 Launch Event to have your mind blown!

Weekly Social-Sew Days!
Join us for some communal social sewing - and for the entire month of October, you don't even need to bring your own machine!
We will have 10 of the Brother A80 sewing machine in the store for our sewists to use - you just have to bring yourself!
Tea and coffee is provided, as well as some small nibbles (biscuits, finger-food.)
Kristina will also bring in her 'Great British Sewing Bee' DVDs, so that there is some gentle background noise on the TV!
Cost: $15.00 for the day
Date: Weekly - every MONDAY.
Time: 10:00am start (flexible.)

Once a fortnight (on a Wednesday) you can bring your embroidery machine for an in-the-hoop embroidery workshop.
We will have our own "featured project" design each month that Kristina will be sitting and working through creating - which attendees are welcome to create with us. Or, you can bring your own current in-the-hoop project and work on that, if you prefer.
We are on-hand to help you with any of your in-the-hoop embroidery needs -- whether it be hooping techniques, thread, stabiliser, and needles recommendations, or just general inquiries on the day.

Halloween Party Edition!

For this month’s October club day, we will be having a spooky Halloween themed club day event! While we will also be showcasing embroidery techniques and methods as per our normal club days, we will also be running a couple of very simple Halloween party games with some fun little prizes, as well as a spread of light finger food and refreshments.
The halloween theme for the day is just a bit of fun, but we will still be running our ‘normal’ embroidery club day presentations and show-and-tell. If you do not celebrate halloween, it is only a small part of the day.

HALLOWEEN PROJECT COMPETITION: We encourage club day attendees to please bring any halloween themed show-and-tell and/or projects to display in our store for 2 weeks. For the fortnight these samples are on display, we will encourage shoppers to vote on their favourite display piece — the winner will receive a prize at the end of the 2 week period (and you can have your sample back on the 28th, just in time for Halloween!)

We will also be offering free attendance to this month’s club day for attendees who dress in costume! YOU CAN SAVE $10!
(We also have bathrooms out back for if you need to get changed back into normal clothes after the event)
(Please also note we will only count full costumes, not just a spooky accessory item. Sorry, you have to work for it!)
– We can confirm that the staff will be dressed up in their spookiest attire for the day (although your costume does not necessarily have to be spooky.)

Sit-and-Cut Day
Learn a new technique every month
+ work on your current ScanNCut projects
Join us for a day of Scan-and-cutting!
Each month (last Wednesday of the month), at the start of this day workshop, we will teach and demonstrate a new cutting method or function on the machine, and how to incorporate this into a craft project. Some simple notes will be provided, as well as some sample material to play with.
For the remainder of the session, we want you to bring in whatever you are trying to cut -- whether it be fabrics, vinyl, paper, leather, cork, balsa wood, stencil plastic or whatever else!
We will then be on hand for the day to assist with your project, and to show you any functions and methods in-built on the machine that you would like to learn.

Ruler Quilting Experience

* Are you interested in free-motion ruler quilting, as a beginner?
* Or maybe you have already sewn some ruler work, but would still enjoy the chance to practice and learn some more?
* Do you have any Westalee ruler templates or other branded templates you aren’t quite sure how to use, and would like some instruction?
We have a day of ruler quilting
happening in-store, October 18th!

Join us with Sharon Wyatt (Westalee rulerwork accredited teacher/demonstrator) as we create free-motion quilting patterns and motifs from ruler work templates. We are on-hand and available to take you through the techniques and methods to create beautiful and stunning ruler quilting!
There will be sewing machines provided in-store for everyone to use — the Brother A80 sewing machine model! You are also welcome to use relevant ruler feet, rulerwork templates and sewing notions that will be loaned out for general use on the day.
Or, you can bring your own sewing machine and templates if you like. It’s up to you!
A fabric kit is included in the cost of the session, which you will be using to quilt on in the class.
