Wednesday Update from GCN

All are invited to attend the installation service of Brian Schafer as Lead Pastor at 6:00pm on Sunday, September 25 in the sanctuary. This is going to be a service of celebration and joy as we give thanks for God‘s faithfulness in the past and look with great anticipation toward the future. Come support Pastor Brian and his family, as we join colleagues and friends from across the Mid-Atlantic District for this special occasion.

Several discipleship classes are offered every Sunday at 9am. You're welcome to join at any time or sign-up online at gaithersburgnazarene.org/life-groups. Childcare is provided.

Life Groups are back at GCN and you can find the line-up in the brochure on Sunday morning or online here. There are groups for all ages and stages. We encourage you to find a group and join. Sign-up on the Welcome Card or at the kiosk in the foyer on Sunday morning, or online at gaithersburgnazarene.org/life-groups.

CCK’s are due back to church this Sunday, September 25th.  There’s a collection box labeled “Crisis Care Kits and Donations" next to the shoe drive collection. There’s still time to donate to the work still needed to make up the kits through offerings, by check or through Txt2Give. If you miss the drop off day, you can bring them to the church office and we'll get them added to our bunch. Thank you!

GCN's Parishioner Care Team serves those who could use a hand, especially during a big life event. We are looking for people who like to cook (or buy takeout!), make cards, give rides to appointments, or help with moving/gardening/cleaning.  For more information, to share a need, or to join the team, please contact Sonja Hatten, make a note on your Welcome Card, or sign up here: bit.ly/gcn-parishionercare.

Starting this Sunday, September 25 through October 9, we’ll be collecting donated shoes — any condition, any size. The shoe drive will benefit vulnerable populations in Uganda. For more information, visit rukundointernational.org/shoe-collection. You can drop off shoes at the donation kiosk.

Our GCN tech teams need help! No experience is necessary, only a willingness to learn and serve. We have three teams available: graphics, sound, and live streaming. We are especially in need of 1-2 volunteers in the live streaming and sound team. We will train anyone who is interested. Please contact the church office or mark your Welcome Card: “Tech Team” on Sunday morning.

This summer, the property committee worked on developing a landscaping proposal for an outdoor gathering space to include a prayer garden in honor of GCN's long-time pastors, Ben and Kelly Spitler. The plans will incorporate rainwater management, a new playground, and additional communal activity areas. The board is excited to update the congregation with details and begin the fundraising campaign once the civil engineering firm approves the plan.

Wednesdays at 7pm, join us for Teen Bible Quizzing in Room B1. We will focus on the book of Acts this season. All 6th-12th graders are invited and will be led by Justine Gleiger and Nathan Clugston.

We will not be having youth group on Sunday, September 25. But all teens are invited to Pastor Brian’s installation service at 6:00pm in the GCN sanctuary. We will resume on Sunday, October 2nd in the Life Center. 

Thanks to those of you who have given toward the NYC 2023 envelope fundraiser. This is a huge blessing to the families of high schoolers who will attend the Nazarene youth conference in Florida next summer. There is a registration and deposit deadline on October 1. If you’d like to contribute, then please do so on Sunday. Stop by the foyer to pick up an envelope — and thank you.

Every Sunday night at youth group, our teens and adult leaders share a meal together. It’s an important part of building community and being with each other. We have wonderful volunteers who help prepare the meal, but we could use some additional helpers. The commitment is only for a couples hours once a month.
