Meet our guest panelists:
Our event moderator, Orlando Bailey, is a lifelong Detroiter who has learned how to practice community development in the neighborhood where he was born.

He is passionate about shifting the narrative of Black cities and neighborhoods. He is an Emmy Award winning journalist, Director of Engagement for Bridge Detroit, co-host of the podcast Authentically Detroit, and host of Urban Consulate

Orlando intends to lead a compelling discussion that inspires the audience to think radically about what a reparative Detroit could look like.
Dr. Julian Agyeman, Professor of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning at Tufts University, is the originator of the influential concept of just sustainabilities, the integration of social justice and environmental sustainability.

He is the author and editor of 13 books, including Just Sustainabilities: Development in an Unequal World (MIT Press, 2003) and Sharing Cities: A Case for Truly Smart and Sustainable Cities (MIT Press, 2015).

During the Equity Forum, Dr. Agyeman will enlighten the audience to think about a shift from racial to reparative city planning to cultivate a just future in Detroit.

Nathaniel Smith serves as Founder and Chief Equity Officer of the Partnership for Southern Equity, where he works to advance racial equity through an equity agenda, which advances just outcomes that are sensitive to the needs and circumstances of communities – erasing the barriers that stand in the way of success to create the conditions that enable just and fair inclusion into a society in which all people can participate, prosper and reach their full potential.

During the Equity Forum, Nathaniel will join the panel to share revolutionary concepts on how the future of our economy and society will depend on our ability to remove barriers to shared prosperity and sustainability caused by structural racism.
