To be released October 15

  • The Calendar Event Title Tooltip will be enforced in the Canvas interface for all users.
  • Instructors can delay pages for publication on a specific date and time when the Schedule Page Publication feature option is enabled. This feature will be enforced on November 19.

In beta October 15

When using third-party tools to upload assignments, multiple files submitted together will display as a single submission in Speedgrader.

 

New Quizzes Hub coming October 3 

On October 3 the New Quizzes User Group and New Quizzes Transition Group will merge to become the New Quizzes Hub. Blogs from the Product team and information on upcoming features will be highlighted on the main page. Blog posts and questions from the current groups will also move to the New Quizzes Hub.

Also keep an eye out in the Hub regarding a series of events and activities focused on New Quizzes' features and ongoing development. Events will run from October 3 through November 18.

An important note when presenting to large audiences

There are response limits for Poll Everywhere Activities. Below is a detailed breakdown. Please share with users who may be presenting to large audiences so that they do not hit any technical limitations during a presentation.

  • Clickable image activity response limits: 10,000 responses
  • Competition audience size limit: 1,500 participants
  • Free text activity response limit: 20,000 responses (for our license)
  • Multiple choice activity response limit: 10,000 responses
  • Q&A activity audience size limit: 1,100 participants
  • Ranking activity response limits: 4,500 responses
  • Surveys response limit: 1,600 responses
  • Word cloud activity response limit: 5,000 responses

  • Harvard Slack Grid requires users to re-authenticate every 30 days. Users will receive notifications at 2 hours and then again at 15 minutes before their session ends, giving them the opportunity to re-authenticate first before they get logged out. 
  • Update your desktop app to the new release that includes significant security improvements.
  • For Android users, Slack has added “ALT” badges to images that contain image descriptions, or alt text. Tap on the badge to read additional context for the image.

To find recent conversations, all sent messages will be visible in a new tabbed sidebar page called "Drafts & sent."  Launching first for desktop and then for mobile and iPad, this page combines the Drafts and Scheduled sidebar pages alongside the new Sent tab.

To be released October 18

Improvements are coming to Slack Huddles including:

  • Lightweight video with one click multi-person screen sharing, drawing, and cursors 
  • Emoji, reactions and “stickers” 
  • Message threads that automatically save to channel

It brings teaching data together in one place so faculty can more easily take immediate action in the classroom. It’s being used and piloted at HKS, GSE, and HSPH.
