WEEKLY NOTES September 22, 2022
Greetings Saint Paul's Family and Friends!
"Truly I tell you, if you say to this mountain, 'Be taken up and thrown into the sea', and if you do not doubt in your heart, but believe that what you say will come to pass, it will be done for you."
~ Mark 11:23
Do you believe that your words have power? We do! This week, we encourage you to use your words to speak life, and light, and love into a world that is so desperately in need of kindness and grace. This week we offer a challenge to all to share the gospel - the good news of Christ - through the ways we engage each other everyday. This week, we encourage you - as we encourage ourselves - to choose our words wisely, knowing that "life and death are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21)."
This is our challenge. Let's be attentive to what we say, how we say it, and to whom things are said. In fact, let's get excited about how we can co-create new realities with God through our actions and our words. Let's believe together and watch things happen!
With Gratitude,
~ Pastors Latricia & Becky
P.S. Don't forget to sign up for the bed build on Saturday, October 8th! At this moment, we don't have enough volunteers signed up, so if you plan to be there, register now so we know we have enough hands.

Wednesday Night Dinners
We are restarting our regular Wednesday Night Dinners! Ted Rokitowski has volunteered to be our chef through the end of the year while we work on the budget for 2023 and look toward hiring someone next year. Our Kitchen Committee is getting things going and they are always looking for hands willing to help.
Below is a link where you can make your reservation. We have modified our sign-ups so that you can make your reservation weekly, or for the entire month. You may also RSVP on the attendance pads during worship. Dinner is $7 for adults and $3 for children and you can pay at the door with cash or check, in the church office, or online when you make your reservation through the Weekly Notes.
September Menu:
9/28 - Fish with Wild Rice and Vegetables
October Menu:
10/5 - Pulled pork sliders, corn, collards
10/12 - Chicken enchiladas, rice, beans
10/19 - Lasagna, garlic bread, salad
10/26 - Shepherds pie, pumpkin with sauteed onions
Our evening Bible Talk class will be moving to in-person, following Wednesday night dinner, from 6:30-7:30pm. Youth programming and youth choir will also meet during that time, and we plan to offer more options in October, including a "Church 101" Class. Nursery is available during all of our class times.
These dinners are a great way to get to know others in the church. We plan to hold a quarterly church gathering like we did on the 31st where you can ask questions and where we will update you on the state of the church and upcoming goals and initiatives. We also hope to host some fun family events. Hope to see you there!

Sleep In Heavenly Peace Bed Build
All children deserve a safe, comfortable place to lay their heads, too many boys and girls go without a bed—or even a pillow—to sleep on. These children end up sleeping on couches, blankets, and even floors. This can affect their happiness and health. That’s where Sleep in Heavenly Peace and Saint Paul’s UMC comes in as we are co-sponsoring a 16-bunk bed build at Saint Paul’s on October 8, 2022. Registration begins at 8:45 a.m. and the build will be from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. No carpentry skills are needed!
The money for materials has been raised and ordered. Trained station leaders from Sleep in Heavenly Peace have volunteered. The equipment is ready. What we need are volunteers. What we need is you, your family, and your friends to help us provide beds for 32 children in the Florida Panhandle. We have a collection bin in the lobby of Sanders Hall for bedding donations (sheets, pillows, and blankets must be new).
Whether the children are in Panama City or Port St. Joe, Marianna or Tallahassee, Quincy or Monticello, we need to remove kids from the floor and provide them beds.
Thanks so much,
Anne Godbold and Jerry Roney

Peace & Justice Pilgrimage
Join us on pilgrimage to deepen our faith in Christ and stoke our desire to love one another.
The purpose of this journey is to engage the reality of systemic racism and injustice in our lives. We will learn the history of white racial violence from the Antebellum South, through Reconstruction, to Jim Crow, and all the way to mass incarceration today. We pray that on our journey we will all know better how to love our neighbor more fully on our path of discipleship.
We will depart Tallahassee at 8am on Friday, Nov 11th and return on the evening of Saturday, Nov 12th. The cost of this trip is $295-305 for single occupancy and $200-210 for double occupancy. The final number of participants may alter the price slightly, so we wanted to give a range for the moment. This includes your hotel room, 4 meals (Fri dinner not included), museum and memorial admission, and transportation costs.
For more information on the memorial and the museum, as well as FAQ's, please click this link https://museumandmemorial.eji.org/
There are only 70 spots available and they are filling up fast, so register early if you are planning to attend. We opened this to Saint Paul's UMC and Trinity UMC first, but soon it will be published to all the churches in the district.
