Tuesday 9/27 - 1st Grade to Ship Harbor Trail 8:45-11:45
Kindergarten had the opportunity to connect to the natural resources of Acadia National Park through observation, exploration, and discovery. We participated in the Park Ranger Led program, Ecosystems and Exploration on the Ship Harbor Trail. When we returned to school we wrote about our observations during our writer's workshop.
The 7th and 8th grade students participated in the Floating Classroom with outdoor educator Billy Helprin at the Somes Meynell Wildlife Sanctuary.  Students collected data at different depths of Somes Pond, performed chemical tests. and analyzed the data to determine the correlation between the water depth, water temperature, and dissolved oxygen.  This valuable experience provided an opportunity for students to work together on teams, canoe around the pond, and explore a local watershed.
Miss. Michaud had some tastey looking art in her classroom this week. These are large scale sponge tempera paintings inspired by Lois Ehlert's illustrations in her book,
Eating the Alphabet Fruits and Vegetables from A to Z.
This was mostly a K-3 project with some middle school helpers!
A big Thank-you to the
Southwest Harbor Coast Guard
Base for rebuilding the
Coast Guard boat on our playground!!
Breakfast and lunch are being served daily.  Mr. Pappas is providing excellent food that is very tasty and healthy.
If your child brings a cold lunch and would like an item from the fruit/veggie cart, they will need to take a fruit, veggie, and a cheese stick.  We want everyone to have a healthy lunch. We just need to follow the state guidelines.
Have a great weekend!
