There was a man who was born blind. He was also a beggar. The disciples saw him and asked Jesus: “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”
Jesus replied: “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him” (John 9:2-3).
It was a response that surely surprised some people. Do you really mean that THIS man will have the mighty works of God displayed in him?
Yes.
He faced stigma and ridicule. He had to navigate life blind. He had to beg for money. But he became an example of the power and goodness of God.
Friends, what God can do through you is greater than what has happened to you.
Here’s a real risk in our thinking. If we are in a less-than-ideal situation or otherwise struggling, we can mistakenly let it define us. We can resign ourselves to defeat and think that what we’re going through is evidence of God’s absence.
Not so. Think bigger.
Look for opportunities to glorify and serve God in your situation—no matter what you’re dealing with. You too could have the mighty works of God displayed in you.
What God can do through you is greater than what has happened to you.
