Membership position and New Members

Businet currently has 136 members in 37 countries. There will be an adjustment to that figure when membership positions are clarified by some members.

We are delighted to add the following institutes to Businet membership

NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences in Emmen, which will be represented by Julia Huisman julia.huisman@stenden.com. NHL Stenden in Emmen now has a membership in its own right. There are now two NHL Stenden members, in Emmen and in Leeuwarden.

Cologne Business School (CBS) joins us and is represented by Silke Bochow, Head of Global Programs, s.bochow@cbs.de  www.cbs.de. Silke will join us in Mainz for her first Businet Conference. CBS are partners with a number of Businet member institutes already and we are very happy to have them as a member.

IGS-RH School of HRM are a long established member of the network. They have now applied for Group membership and there will be two members listed on the membership list - details of them both are below

Valida has worked with Businet on previous projects, so although a new member she is well known to many in Businet.

The Businet Student Conference will be held in March 2023. The conference starts on Sunday March 26th. The venue has yet to be finalised. The programme will build on the very, very successful 2018 and 2019 Conferences, together with subsequent Virtual events.

Working group activities - please add to the events calendar

Businet is a very active network. This is one of the main “USP’s” that we mention when promoting membership. This is currently not supported by the entries currently shown on the events calendar of the website (https://www.businet.org.uk/calendar). Please add 2022/2023 planned events to give an overview of the member activities, or send information of events you want adding to businet@gmx.com

Businet Annual Conference Update

Over 170 delegates are now registered for the conference. We have just over 30 rooms still available at the conference hotel. If you haven’t registered yet then be aware of the limited  space at the Hilton on the Rhine. We also have a full complement of Good Practice workshops now.

The Annual Meeting of the network will also take place  at 11.00 (CET) on Friday 13 November.

At the Annual Meeting of the network there will be an election of one Board member. After the Board election there will be a further election to install a new President. Agnes Dillien  must stand down as she has served her term of office as a Board member and President.

We are, therefore, looking for candidates for a Board position and for the role of President If you would like more detailed information about the vacant Board positions please contact me by 29th September at businet@gmx.com. Anyone considering standing for election to the Board must express an interest by 30 September. This can be done by contacting the General Manager, David Taylor, who will oversee the election process (businet@gmx.com).

The election process is that:

Before 30 September – anyone interested in standing for a Board position should identify themselves to the General Manager at businet@gmx.com

Before 03 Oct – candidates will receive instructions

Before 16 Oct – candidates will produce, if they desire, an information document for members in support of their application.

Week Commencing 19 October – voting forms will be distributed to the first coordinator of each member institution.

If you wish to address any questions to the Annual Meeting they must be submitted in writing before 12 October (to businet@gmx.com)

Businet are operating as partners in a number of European funded projects. One such project is  called Entrepreneurship and Mental Well-being (Entre-MWB) (https://entremwb.eu/). A workshop featuring this project will be held in Mainz. We will feature different projects is subsequent news updates.

The Entre-MWB Erasmus+  project is an international research project aimed at developing practical and reflective learning materials that support and promote Mental Well-Being (MWB) amongst European entrepreneurs. This project is managed by Projects Beyond Border, a Businet member and other Businet members involved are UCLL, Odisee and Avans, together with two SMEs, two associations and two social enterprises.

Use of Basecamp

We will increasingly use Basecamp to distribute information to members. When messages are distributed please do not press reply and respond unless you want everyone in the Basecamp group to receive the message. If your message is meant for an individual ping them directly or send a separate email.

Can I ask you to update your profile if your photograph is not on Basecamp? It would be nice for individuals in new member institutes and new individuals in established member institutes, if we could put more faces to names within the network.

Best Regards,
David Taylor,
General Manager Businet,
For and on behalf of the Board
