Sharing Water & Climate Stories

Dialogue 2 | 12 October 2022

Dear AWP friend

We invite you to join us for our second dialogue in the Sharing Water & Climate Stories Dialogue Series, aimed at bringing together water managers across Australia and the Indo-Pacific, Indigenous and non-Indigenous people to share stories of their water resource management and climate adaptation journey.

Dialogue 2 will provide opportunities for sharing stories about the complexities of applying traditional, Indigenous and community knowledge with western science into climate resilient water resource management. This dialogue seeks to provide participants with the opportunity:
  • to dig deeper into where traditional, Indigenous and local knowledge is being applied with western science;
  • to share what has worked well in different contexts;
  • to unravel some of the complexities in working across different cultures and knowledge systems; and
  • to share ideas on possible opportunities for progressing in this space across Australia and the Indo-Pacific.
Dialogue 2 will be highly participatory and interactive and we seek to hear from participants about their experiences and work in this space. Please note this session will be capped with places limited to 30 participants. By maintaining a smaller audience we hope to create a space for meaningful dialogue and exchange of ideas.

Date: Wednesday, 12 October at 10am (AEDT)

The registration will request you to outline your background and interest in the integration of Indigenous and traditional knowledge and western science in climate resilient water management. We’re particularly interested to hear from participants who may have a case study to share on this topic, but this is not a requirement to join the session.

More information about this session and upcoming dialogues in the series will be available on the event page as we confirm speakers.

This dialogue series will create momentum across the Australian water sector on  water and climate action including the use and integration of traditional and Indigenous knowledge as we head towards the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP27 and the UN 2023 Water Conference.

We look forward to seeing you online and hearing your stories during this session.

Kind regards

AWP
