AOTUS Confirmation Update
The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee voted on 9/28 and failed to favorably report the nomination of Dr. Colleen Shogan. This was not unexpected, and we are hopeful Dr. Shogan can secure the confirmation in the full Senate.

In case you missed our recent eblast, CoSA joined with EveryLibrary to launch an action alert encouraging everyone to contact their Senators for a speedy confirmation. We encourage you to participate and share the message as you are permitted.

ARM Survey Update

CoSA's biennial archives and records management surveys have been distributed (state archivists should check your email -- and your spam folders!). Please respond by NOVEMBER 18TH!

Be in Touch with Joy!
CoSA's new executive director is happy to hear from you! Reach her at jbanks@statearchivists.org.

Recorded CoSA webinars are available with transcripts and full-text searching using Aviary, thanks to our corporate sponsorship with AVP.
An audiovisual content publishing platform, Aviary provides intended users with search, navigation, and playback across audio and video archives, collections, and files, pinpointing search results with playback exactly where a search term is found.

Aviary is the result of a collaboration between AVP and the Fortunoff Video Archive for Holocaust Testimonies.

If you did, please take a few minutes to complete the meeting evaluation. This will help us as we're already looking ahead to our joint annual meeting with SAA, July 22-29, 2023 in Washington, DC (expect the call for proposals very soon).

Urge Your Representative to Join the Congressional History Caucus
What actions can we take to support federal funding of the humanities, even as we keep an eye on Congress’s appropriations discussions? As we fight to ensure that drastic cuts don’t become law, our most important assets are our allies in Congress. That’s why this is the perfect time to make a push for the Congressional History Caucus! The History Caucus is the brainchild of the National Coalition for History (NCH), of which CoSA is a policy board member. It provides a forum for members of Congress to share their interest in history and to promote awareness of the subject on Capitol Hill. Find resources for contacting your representatives.
