Athletics and Outdoor Recreation 

Our Fall indoor Adult Sports registrations for Dodgeball and Volleyball will end this weekend.  Make sure and enter your teams.  
Hockey registration is open and our November start date is just around the corner.  Be on the lookout for Youth Basketball information; registration will open soon and the program will begin in December.  Don’t see what you are looking for?  Check out our athletics website or give us a call at (970) 384-6318 and let our team help.

The Adult Softball Leagues and the Youth NFL Flag Football league are underway.  The Coed Softball League will wrap up the regular season next week and play the championship tournament October 10.  The Men’s League has concluded their regular season and tournament play will conclude on October 6.  We are entering week three of our inaugural season of NFL Flag Football and looking forward to our expanded second season in the spring; play will take place in April and May.

Adult Coed Dodgeball

While Dodgeball has been around for many years, it is a new offering for us this year.  Matches will take place at the Community Center gymnasium on Thursday evenings using modified World Dodgeball Federation rules.  We are still looking for teams.  Register now for Adult Coed Dodgeball.

The indoor season of volleyball is upon us.  We will offer both coed 6v6 and coed 4v4 starting in October and running through mid-December.  All matches will be played at the Community Center gymnasium on Monday or Wednesday night.  Register now for Adult Coed Volleyball.

Adult Hockey

We will once again offer three leagues for adult hockey.  The 40+ league, a C league, and an A/B league will all play on Sunday’s beginning the second Sunday in November.  Registration is open and we are limited in the number of teams we can take.  Teams will be accepted on a first come basis.  If you are not on a team and looking to participate, we will also form a free agent team if space and participants are available.  Register now for Adult Hockey.

mom and toddler doing gymnasticsParent/Tot Gymnastics Parent/Tot Gymnastic (Ages 0-3) classes are so much more than just gymnastics! This class will provide an incredible opportunity to spend quality one on one time with your toddler while introducing them to so many new concepts.  In addition to developing fine and gross motor skills, this 4-week session will provide your toddler an opportunity to practice listening and following directions while interacting with other children. Join us Saturdays October 29 – November 19.  Register now for Parent/Tot Gymnastics.

Tiny Tot Gymnastics Are you looking for a positive environment for your child that will help develop coordination, balance, strength and most importantly is a lot of fun?  Look no further than our Tiny Tot Gymnastics class (Ages 3-6).  With all NEW Gymnastics equipment this program is sure to be a hit with your little one!  Join us for this upcoming 4-week session on Saturdays from October 29 – November 19.  Register now for Tiny Tot Gymnastics.

Hello friends, Annie here from Arts. If you haven’t signed up for an art experience at the Community Art Center, now is the time! We have opportunities galore for all ages, levels, and abilities.

For example, adults can learn the art of Fly-Tying on October 6thwith local expert Matt Kraemer. 

Young artists can get messy on Monday afternoons at the new Art After Nap program designed specifically for toddlers and pre-k children and their parents or caregivers. 

Elementary school age students interested in imaginative play are invited to join the Create-A-Play Art and Theater after-school Workshop starting on October 29that Glenwood Springs Elementary School or for those who prefer playing with clay, sign up for an after-school Clay Kids class with Natalie Squillante at the Community Art Center Clay Studio.

Hey Homeschoolers, have you ever considered having Clay for Breakfast? Well, we’ve created a new clay class just for you and your families on Wednesday mornings. Come dressed for mess and play!

Community Center–Ice Rink Staff Opportunities

Our Explorer team is here to provide fun learning experiences for our community’s kids and families. Little Rec programs are for ages 1 to 7 years old. Adaptive Climbing Wall

The Community Center Rock Climbing Wall now has adaptive climbing gear to allow people of all abilities and ages the opportunity to climb! If you or someone you care for is living with a disability and would like to try adaptive climbing, email Steve.Frederick@cogs.us to book a time!

Inclusive Office Hours

Are you a caregiver or a person living with a disability that is interested in pursuing adaptive recreation opportunities with the City of Glenwood Springs Recreation Center? Email Steve.Frederick@cogs.us to set up an Inclusive Office Hours to ensure you or your child are well supported within all our programs through adaptive equipment, behavioral support, and other inclusive needs.

Parks, Trails and Open Spaces 

Plant a tree for our city's celebration of Arbor Day, on October 20th. You can either volunteer at Two Rivers Park or plant a tree in your own yard to participate!
