Notice to boaters: Queenscliff Coast Guard Reduced Capabilities
The Australian Volunteer Coast Guard wishes RGYC Members to be aware of their reduced capabilities going forward, due to the retirement of their 9.0M Search and Rescue Vessel CG09. As an interim solution the MSAR office has loaned Coast Guard Queenslcliff an 8.5M NAIAD, with a recommended towing capacity of no more than 6.99 tonnes.

The only heavy tow vessel in Port Phillip Bay is the Water Police Vessel based at Williamstown. Assistance in The Rip and Bass Strait will be delayed by around 1 to 1.5 hours depending on sea conditions.

Sailability Program

After a number of years with Covid and other problems, we are restarting our Sailability program at RGYC. I have been contacted by a number of agencies who are keen to get their clients out on the water. I’m looking for volunteers to assist, both onshore and on water.

We typically run Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays with some volunteers participating in a morning session, afternoon session, or the day.
This is a chance to “put back” into the local community and you need no experience to participate.

Please contact me if you think you would be interested.

Thank you.
