Draft Arts and Culture Strategy

The new draft Arts and Culture Strategy 2022-2026 will guide Council in the planning, development and promotion of arts and cultural facilities, initiatives, programs and services, and aligns directly with the current Council Plan across the Southern Grampians.

We know that having a strong arts culture is important to the health and wellbeing of our community which is why having a strategy to support Council in its delivery of programs is vital. Arts and Cultural experiences brings us together whether that be for exhibitions or live performances, showcases spaces of innovation, and importantly provide jobs for locals whilst also celebrating our regional heritage.

If you haven't already had a read through, check out the draft Strategy and let us know what you think.
Submissions close 14 October 2022.

Draft Rural Land Use Strategy

The second draft of the Rural Land Use Strategy (RLUS) is now available for viewing and feedback. It incorporates community feedback received during 2021, and addresses issues identified in the previous version of RLUS.

RLUS has been prepared to guide the future of land use in the Southern Grampians Shire and provide a framework for future planning amendments. A number of changes have been made since the formal exhibition in late 2021 including the minimum lot size for dwellings in the Farming Zone retained at 40 ha.

Submissions are now invited, so head to our website using the link below for more information. Submissions due by 19 October 2022.

L2P Program looking for Mentors and Drivers

The Southern Grampians TAC L2P program is currently looking for volunteer mentors and new learner drivers. L2P is a community-based volunteer program, that assists disadvantaged learner drivers aged 16 to 21 with no access to a supervising driver or vehicle to gain the 120 hours driving experience required to apply for a probationary licence.

Gaining a driver’s licence enhances a young person’s confidence and social independence to engage with their friends and community, helping them access employment opportunities and education.

If you are a fully licensed driver over 21 years of age and want to assist young drivers gain driving experience, or if you are a young learner driver needing some support to obtain your p-plates, please contact Council on 5573 0444 to discuss your options.
