Cost of living resources to help support people in City and Hackney 

If your service users are struggling to cover living costs, support is available. We are compiling resources about supporting people with the cost of living. Some of these are listed below. 

Hackney Council's cost of living guide 
Hackney Council has worked with a range of partners to develop a comprehensive guide outlining the help and support available to residents during the cost of living crisis. Support available for households on low incomes includes Council Tax reductions, food vouchers, lunch clubs and support grants.

Hackney Foodbank is part of a network of foodbanks working to combat poverty and hunger.

Hackney Lunch Clubs network

There are 12 Lunch Clubs serving lunch to Hackney’s diverse communities. The clubs help to decrease isolation and improve health, wellbeing and connection. Read more

Cost of living appeal
Hackney Giving's Cost of Living appeal 

The increased cost of living in the UK is making headlines. For many people living in Hackney, higher utility bills and fuel costs will mean the difference between making ends meet and no longer being able to afford essential items. For those who were already financially vulnerable, price increases will make things worse.

London’s Poverty Profile provides evidence and insight on poverty and inequality in London. It shines a light on the nature of poverty in the capital, in the hope of prompting action from charities, local authorities and central government. Read more

Pathways to Better Health - support service for 18-25-year-olds
Pathways to Better Health can offer flexible support of up to 12 sessions with their outreach workers. As part of this service, they will also work with individuals to set and manage goals according to their needs. Read more

Hackney CVS has an office space available to rent at the Adiaha Antigha Centre in Dalston, E8. The room is 181 square feet, with a monthly rent of £1270. Read more

Lunch clubs appeal for funds to help keep their doors open
Hackney's network of lunch clubs is appealing to local residents and businesses to support their vital services. Lunch clubs are an essential part of Hackney and they need your help to keep their doors open and ovens on! Donate here

The East London CVS Alliance is working in partnership with Compass Wellbeing CIC to offer free bitesize HR training to voluntary and community sector organisations. Hackney Giving funding will be awarded for work that reduces the impact of the rising cost of living on people living in Hackney and the City.

Barclays Community Football Fund 
The Barclays Community Football Fund, in partnership with Sported, is now open offering £500 grants, free training and exclusive ticket offers to help make football more accessible.

Henry Smith - Improving Lives
The Improving Lives programme provides grants to charitable organisations that help people when other sources of support are not available. They support established organisations delivering services directly to beneficiaries.

Steel Charitable Trust
Funding for charities that help children in families suffering from challenging economic circumstances, children living in potentially dangerous home situations or looked-after children.
