One of the core values of EOS is Do The Right Thing. Like any guiding principle, we as EOS implementers work hard to make sure that we live these principles and that we also teach our clients to take this forward. We teach them to have a bit of a speech about every core value, telling people what this really means. For 'doing the right thing', we've got three things that we want to look at.
The first is called enter the danger. This means that whenever we're together and I pick up anything in the session that might be a difficult conversation, that we're not having, I'll be curious about it. I'll ask the question and I'll encourage everyone to have the conversation. If there's perhaps a white elephant that I can smell in the room, I'll pick that white elephant up and, with love, put it on the table and say, Okay, let's talk about this. Because, if we can solve it now, it will go away forever and we will be stronger going forward.
The second principle of Do The Right Thing is that no amount of money is worth betraying a trust. This is incredibly important as we implement EOS in the system, but also, as you go forward, to teach this to the rest of your team and to take it through to your clients everywhere. Trust is paramount. We need to build it and nothing can replace that trust once it's broken. So it's really important that we keep that principle in mind.
The third, a little bit tongue in cheek perhaps, but really important, is If Mom was watching . . . How would you behave if your mom was watching? That is an incredibly important principle as well. Hopefully, we are on our best behavior when our moms are watching!
So there you have it, just one of the core values of EOS, and I've just shown you how we write a little bit of a speech around it, to make it alive for people so that they understand it fully.
