Enhanced Access - Going Live - 1st October!

The new at-scale Enhanced Access service provided by Primary Care Sheffield is going live on 1st October. We can be very proud that 12 of the 15 PCNs in the City have signed up to commission this service from us.

The Primary Care at Scale team have being working incredibly hard to get the service up and running... as always things have had to be done at short notice, and they have had to work around obstacles caused by the national IT modules not being ready. As we enter the final few weeks of implementation we want to say thank you to everyone involved for their work so far!

Clinical Updates
ANP and Visiting service close on 30th September. Woodhouse Hub to close from 26th September
 
The CCG and now ICB have supported general practice with Covid funding via PCS to provide in hours ANP and Paramedic visiting services. The funding for these will finish on 30th September and the service will close on that date. 

As part of the mobilisation plans for the new Enhanced Access service  and in readiness for the new arrangements the extended Access team in conjunction with the CCG have made the decision  to consolidate the current hub sites, this means from the 26th September the service currently delivered from Woodhouse Medical Centre will close. 
 
Enhanced Access overtime roles 

The new enhanced access service is due to go live on 1st October. We have some permanent rota gaps, and some ad hoc ones. The service is open 6.30pm-9.30pm on weekdays and 9am-6pm on Saturdays at the following locations
  • Porter Brook
  • Jordanthorpe
  • Crystal Peaks
  • Flowers
  • Norwood
  • Darnall
  • Fairlawns
  • Burncross
We are particularly looking for ANP, Nurses and HCAs.  As an existing staff member if you are interested of taking on a permanent contract to increase your hours the wages are normal PCS rates + 30% uplift for any unsociable hours. If you wish to pick up any ad hoc locum shifts in October and November the rate will be
 
Role Hourly rate
ANP £30
Nurse £23
HCA £14
 
There is also some permanent contracts for receptionists available and also a small number of physio contracts that are also available.

Covid Vaccines
 
As you are all aware we are just embarking on the next phase of vaccination against Covid. We are hoping to do this alongside our usual flu vaccination program but due to unavoidable differences in supply of vaccine this may not be possible. We have weekend clinics planned on the 8th and 15th October and are looking for anyone who is available but particularly someone who could support with the clinical oversight of these clinics. If we can secure clinical oversight then we will be able to co-administer flu and Covid vaccines in these clinics which will ensure we get the greatest level of protection for our patients. We are in the process of working up the offer to patient facing staff so please watch out for more communications about how you, as staff, will be able to access your booster vaccine.

Primary Care Sheffield Suggestion Box

Just a reminder about our PCS Suggestion box, we want everyone in the team to feel like they are able to make suggestions about how we can improve, share feedback, and tell us about examples of good or bad practice you have seen. We have created the team suggestion box as an opportunity for you to share ideas anonymously. Suggestions will be monitored on a weekly basis and we will report back in TeamTalk.

This is a space for constructive ideas and suggestions or for highlighting generic non-urgent issues. If you have urgent or specific concerns please raise them with your line-manager or consult our whistle-blowing policy for other ways you can highlight problems anonymously.

  • Any approved expense claims should be submitted pcs.payroll@nhs.net for processing within 2 months of the expenses being incurred.
  • Any late submissions may not be paid, unless approval is sought by a Director.
  • Evidence of payment such as receipts, parking tickets etc should be kept and submitted as proof alongside the expense claim.
  • Any misuse of the Expenses Policy may result in disciplinary action under the company’s Disciplinary Policy.
