Quick update on sponsorships

I temporarily suspended sponsorships at the start of the global pandemic. At the time I felt it only fair to not charge sponsors when it wasn't clear whether businesses would be in a prolonged lockdown.

As more businesses return to work and adapt to the new reality of WFH I will be re-opening sponsorships starting in September.

I know many people hate ads and the thought that a sponsor will intrude into the weekly news. I've been careful to keep sponsorships at the "invite-only" level. The sponsors you see in the newsletter are those who I am confident deliver excellent services to my customers and newsletter subscribers.

Why charge sponsorship at all?

It takes about 20 hours on average to gather information, create the newsletter, and followup with questions. Offering sponsorship allows me to recoup some portion of this time investment.

Sage is surveying companies about their likelihood of attending an in-person Sage Summit on December 9-11, 2020. As of now, the conference is still listed as an in-person event although the survey also inquires about whether a virtual event would be of interest.
Darin Steward retired in August from Scanco as VP of Professional Services and Manufacturing Sales.

SAGE 100 NEWS AND INFORMATION

EFI SmartLinc’s Sage Integration with ProcessShipper will no longer be supported after August 31, 2021

A user of EFI SmartLinc integration to ProcessShipper forwarded this notice from EFI Smartlinc that "Effective immediately we will no longer be accepting new sales of EFI SmartLinc’s Sage Integration with ProcessShipper". The email further notes "EFI is announcing that the EFI SmartLinc’s Sage Integration with Process Shipper will reach its End-of-Life (EOL) on August 31, 2021, at which time all technical and development support of the software will end. This affects all Sage 100, 300, 500 and Sage EM (Sage X3) integrations."

According to the EFI website:
EFI SmartLinc is the award-winning multi-carrier shipping management software designed to streamline and automate shipping processes. By eliminating touch points and accelerating workflows,

SmartLinc was offered as the successor to StarShip several years ago after the marketing agreement with StarShip ( V-Technologies) was reportedly not renewed by V-Technologies.

Review Your MS SQL License by 8/31/20

Sage recently suggested purchasers of an MS SQL ISV license - which is the SQL license you would purchase directly through Sage - check their MS SQL installs for possible license issues. There are apparently at least two issues - (A) ISV versions of MS SQL are sold to ONLY be used with the ISV applications and (B) hosting MS SQL on cloud servers may cause issues. More info here.

Sage is monitoring President Trump’s Executive Order related to Deferring Payroll Tax Obligations in light of the Ongoing COVID-19 Disaster

If you are using Sage 100 Payroll and are unsure how to manage the August 8 executive order regarding payroll tax then you should sit tight. Sage posted on Sage City that they are in the process of studying the information and will advise shortly on what changes may be forthcoming to Payroll.
