YEPN Coffee Catch-up to resume in September
This email confirms that you're in the pool for the next round of matching as both a Mentor and Mentee in the Wellington region. In March, we announced a rebrand of our bimonthly matching programme from YEPN Mentoring Programme to YEPN Coffee Catch-up. Shortly after that, we went into lockdown and suspended all in-person events. With Auckland now in Alert Level 3 and the rest of the country in Level 2, we're not sure where we'll be in September. Please follow the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and use your judgement on whether to meet in-person or virtually. Remember that matching is now bimonthly, so you have two months to catch up for coffee.
What changes have we made?
We've fully automated our matching process to rule out the likelihood for errors. We've also done our best to audit the existing pool of mentors and mentees to update for any known career changes. If your position has changed significantly and you would like to update your profile, please send an email with your request to yepn@bec.org.nz. Through the redevelopment of our matching process, we have also reset the matching pool. This means that you may be matched with someone you already had in the past. This is intentional as it is a great opportunity to reconnect with your existing connections.
More mentees than mentors
We have more mentees than mentors in both Auckland and Wellington. Rather than issuing a bye, we will now match mentees together if not matched with a mentor that round. It's a great opportunity to network and learn from someone you may not have otherwise met within the industry. Please tell your colleagues about the programme and if they're interested in signing up to be a mentor, mentee or both they can do so by emailing yepn@bec.org.nz.
