Marryatville Primary School Day of STEM
The Agency visited Marryatville Primary School in South Australia for their Day of STEM. We talked with students about STEM careers, shared our own career experiences, and discussed the wide range of professions needed across the industry for the future. We also presented some of our cool merch to three students who wore outstanding STEM outfits. Read more about careers in space.

Mentor profile
The Agency's Katherine Bennell Pegg was recently profiled as part of her role in the mentoring program for Women in Aviation/Aerospace Australia. "I think it is very important to share what I know about the ecosystems, challenges and trends of the space industry, so that the mentee can best position themselves to be a space talent of the future rather than just the present," Katherine said. Meet Katherine and her mentee, Yasmin Zaman.

SpaceCom Entrepreneur Challenge applications open
New space companies from around the world are invited to compete for prizes based on the quality of their business plan and funding pitches. In the past five years, over 150 companies have participated in the Entrepreneur Challenge. Many of the startups have gone on to great success. Apply to the SpaceCom Entrepreneur Challenge.

Consultation open
The Department of Home Affairs has opened consultation on the proposed regulatory reforms Protecting Critical Infrastructure and Systems of National Significance. The reforms aim to protect essential services by uplifting the security and resilience of critical infrastructure, including the space sector. Consultation closes on 16 September 2020 and documentation can be found here.

Bushfire Data Quest
The FDL Data Quest Challenge 2020 is supported by the Agency and has just closed its formal sprint week. The bushfire research teams have made valuable progress making superhuman effort to build algorithms that pushed boundaries. Read the latest update.

Curtin University rock stars
Congratulations to the Curtin University Fireballs in the Sky team who have discovered two meteorites on the Nullarbor Plain – one freshly fallen and the other from November 2019. Read more about the Curtin University discovery.

Human Aerospace is developing spacesuits for future astronauts, as well as compression garments that assist athletes here on Earth. The Human Aerospace team is working with RMIT University and Cape Bionics, in a collaboration involving NASA, the European Space Agency, MIT and others. The Australian Space Agency is supporting Human Aerospace with an International Space Investment initiative grant. Read more.

To celebrate our 2nd anniversary last month, we asked members of our Advisory Group and Space Industry Leaders Forum to share why a space agency is important for Australia. Pamela Melroy is a former United States Air Force officer and NASA astronaut. She was inducted into the United States Astronaut Hall of Fame at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in May 2020. Pam is also a member of our Advisory Group.
