The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners recognized Sister Claire LeBoeuf for her unwavering advocacy for foster children, a humanitarian mission that has lasted for 40 years and helped these young people receive the love they deserve.

T. Terrell Sessums
The BOCC saluted the life of T. Terrell Sessums, a prominent Tampa attorney, mentor, and former Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, who passed away on June 6, 2020. Mr. Sessums' Legislative leadership helped establish the Environmental Protection Commission of Hillsborough County and other community assets.
Rubin Padgett Sr.
Commissioners praised the life of Rubin Padgett Sr., the first African American elected to the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners, who passed away on March 28, 2020. Mr. Padgett, who served as the BOCC's first African American chairman, was a beloved leader who also achieved other firsts in the community.

County Expands Small Business Financial Assistance Program

The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners approved changes to the Rapid Response Recovery (R3) Kickstart Small Business financial assistance program that will provide a more impactful benefit to the small business community economically injured by the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

Board Approves Funding Agreement to Continue Water Resources Investigation

The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners approved the FY 21 Joint Funding Agreement with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) to continue the ongoing Cooperative Water Resources Investigation. The gauges, provided by USGS, collect real-time data for stage, streamflow, and precipitation and provides accurate flooding predictions and prevention for residents.
