ChiBizHub Family,
2020 has proven to be a year that continues to show us all what we are really made of. Despite unprecedented challenges, our small and medium-sized business community has come together and truly embodied the resiliency of Chicago. ChiBizHub strives to play an integral role in growing Chicago’s business ecosystem and we hope the information we provide is of value to you.
August brings us yet another opportunity to promote the narrative of resiliency and growth. Business Resource Partner, South Shore Chamber of Commerce, recently received the coveted Illinois Small Business Development Center (ISBDC) designation, one of only 35 state-wide. Executive Director, Tonya Trice continues to elevate South Shore’s business ecosystem and provide critical technical assistance, training and educational programming, directly and through partner relationships.
This month’s small business spotlight goes to Alejandro Banda, owner and operator of Carinceria y Licoreria Maribel, a local grocery and food establishment located in the heart of Pilsen. At the helm for just two years, Alejandro managed to navigate the challenges of COVID-19 by partnering with a local muralist, expanding craft beer and specialty alcohol offerings and adding made-to-order food options for his loyal customer base and newcomers alike. He credits his continued success to his employees and the support of the community.
Small businesses and resource providers are the heartbeat of our neighborhoods and we hope that highlighting their stories provides you with the information, inspiration and motivation you need to start, sustain and grow your business.
In closing, please take a moment to visit our COVID-19 resource page. It provides up-to-date information about the resources and support available to you as you work to sustain and scale your business. You will also find a series, 16 and growing, of ChiBizHub Conversations, in English and in Spanish. Recent topics include insurance, financial planning, employee protection, and more. Visit ChiBizHub COVID-19 resources.
