Big things are coming to the Tilligerry Peninsula!
We are working on a number of new exciting projects for the Tilligerry Peninsula. These projects include a new skate park, new playground, new multi-sport court, new amenities building, new shared pathways, beautification projects and road projects.

To kick things off we are getting ready to develop a new skate park for the Tilligerry! We have already undertaken a study of 26 sites across the peninsula to find the most suitable location for a new skate park and Mallabula Sports Complex was the winner. Some of the reasons this site was chosen were it's central location, it's proximity to a local school, future opportunities to create a larger recreation hub and the existing pathway connections.

Our next step is to engage a specialist skate park designer and we would love to hear from you about what you would like to see to make this the skate park of your dreams! Click the link below to learn more about the project and share your ideas.

The construction of the new skate park is estimated to begin in April 2021.

Mayoral Academic Scholarship Program confirmed
Our 2021 Port Stephens Mayoral Academic Scholarship Program has been confirmed! This program gives local students starting TAFE or University the opportunity to receive a $2000 scholarship to help cover the cost of their studies. It's a partnership between Council and local businesses to support our next generation of business and industry leaders in Port Stephens.

We want to thank our 2021 sponsors, who continue to support educational opportunities for our community: Ampcontrol, Destination Port Stephens, Hunter Land, Hunter Readymixed Concrete, McDonald Jones Homes, Mojo Homes, Newcastle Airport Pty Limited, Raymond Terrace Bowling Club, Salamander Bay Recycling (2 scholarships), Soldiers Point Bowling Club, SUEZ, The Wests Group (2 scholarships), Tomago Aluminium and Weathertex (2 scholarships).

The investment of one scholarship from a local business makes a big difference to a young person setting out on the next stage of their academic journey. Whether it is a year’s worth of textbooks, a laptop computer, or student accommodation — this contribution goes a long way to support local students and encourage life-long learning.
