AUGUST NEWSLETTER

CONNECTING ARTS & SUSTAINABILITY IN SCOTLAND

Here's our August newsletter. Seems to have come around fast, doesn't it?

While summer is coming to an end and there's a distinct lack of Edinburgh festivals fever, there is still plenty happening as you'll see in our Noticeboard below. As usual, we've got our own upcoming events - two Green Teases and one meetup for Green Arts Initiative members. Plus, we hope you'll find some interesting reading in Our news - including another perspective on being an embedded artist - and The Story.

Stay safe.

We welcome your feedback, thoughts and/or feelings via email or social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn).

Our news

#COP26 resource

Despite the postponement of COP26 in Glasgow until November 2021, plenty of people are still thinking about it and beginning to make plans for arts and cultural happenings, events, creative work etc.

This got us to thinking; what has taken place in previous years? Lewis Coenen-Rowe got to work on some research and has pulled together a short history of arts and culture at COPs. It proves an excellent complement to our new Guide to Making Plans for COP26 page

Upcoming Green Tease events

If you fancy a bit of role-playing, our early September Green Tease - 'Are we COPing?' could be just the event for you!
Tuesday 8th September, 7-8.30pm, online.

This Ideation Game workshop is created jointly by public art platform, Climate Art, and game designer, Matteo Menapace, and supported by Creative Carbon Scotland. This playful workshop aims to enhance creativity and disrupt familiar ways of thinking, enabling participants to step out of their daily roles and imagine solutions to shared problems.

Beginning an embedded artist project

In last month's newsletter, we mentioned Maeve Stone's blog for the Cultural Adaptations project.

If you enjoyed that, you may also like to read a piece by Anyuta Wiazemsky Snauwaert in a similar vein. Anyuta is the project's artist for Ghent, embedded with the city's Environment and Climate Department. She writes about her initial findings and interim conclusions.
