Take Action: Census in Danger
The decision to prematurely end the Nonresponse Followup stage of the 2020 Census is another in a series of damaging actions taken to disempower historically undercounted communities, especially Black and Indigenous People, Communities of Color, and Immigrant Communities. Despite the underfunding of critical testing and plan development phases of the operation, attempts to include a citizenship question on the 2020 Census form, and the recent Executive Order to exclude “illegal aliens” from the Congressional apportionment process, community-based organizations have worked tirelessly through pandemic-related delays and constant adjustments to the 2020 Census process to ensure that our communities are counted.
There are 2 ways to act to reverse this damaging decision:
1. If you are the leader of your organization, please review and add your name to this letter by emailing your name, title, and organization name to egoetz@pyramidcommunications.com by 9am on Wednesday, August 12.
2. If you are not in a leadership role, but want to support this effort, you can work with the League of Women Voters to have your voice heard through this website.
You can act now to help ensure that every person is counted!
