August 2020
Nubble Light; York, Maine
Greetings on a summer day in Maine.  I snapped this photo last week as the remnants of Hurricane Isaias came roaring up the east coast headed for Canada; bringing with it gale force winds on a balmy full moon night at the local lighthouse in Cape Neddick.

It’s nice to be back home after this seven-week road trip through 25 states, playing a couple of dozen small outdoor concerts.  I want to thank you all for attending and respecting each other’s space in these very trying times.  I also want to express my appreciation to all the nice folks who hosted so many of these house concerts.  As far as I know, no one at any of these open-air events has come down with the virus, and I tested negative a few days after returning home.

I’ve become quite accustomed to wearing a mask and sanitizing my hands a dozen times a day and very much enjoyed traveling around the open spaces of the Midwest; and as the photo below shows, Key West is not the only place with a beautiful sunset.   This shot was taken at a house concert set among the green and golden waves of corn in Iowa.
I’ve been working on a batch of songs for a new CD I hope to release in 2021.   It will be titled "Ya Goes Till Ya Stops," and I have been performing the title track as well as a few other new songs in my shows the past couple of weeks.  It’s difficult to say when we’ll be able to get into the studio to record, but I’m optimistic things will improve after the first of the year.  It would be technically possible to record without being in the same studio with other musicians, but that’s quite unappealing to me, so we will wait until things return to some level of normality.   In the meantime, you can order the new hat from my storefront at Little Flock Music!
HOUSE CONCERTS

As I mentioned, many of my shows the past few months have been house concerts.  In a normal year, house concerts might comprise 10% to 15% of my touring schedule.  This year it’s more like 75% to 80%, as so many traditional concert venues are temporarily closed.  Most of September and early October, I will be on the east coast, and if any of you have questions about hosting such an event, please email directly at scott@scottkirby.com.  I can answer your questions and can also put you in touch with Julie Draper, my booking assistant.
Martha's Vineyard
Speaking of house concerts, I will be playing a small private event on the beautiful island of Martha’s Vineyard on Tuesday, August 18, at 7pm.   This will be my final streaming Facebook live show of the summer, so if you would like to experience a taste of the Vineyard, please join us on my Facebook page that evening.

On August 23, Gary Green will be joining me at the Big Owl Tiki Bar, in Grasonville, MD, from 3:00 - 6:00 pm.

I'll be finishing up my August shows at Bracco's, in Freeport, NY, on the 30th, beginning at 1:00 pm.
Thanks for listening,
