Seeking Public Comment on WestCOG's 2021-2024 TIP
The Draft 2021-2024 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is a dynamic list of all highway and public transit projects proposed to be undertaken utilizing Federal Highway Administration and Federal Transit Administration funding during federal fiscal years 2021-2024. The Draft TIP is being updated for both the HVMPO and SWRMPO, learn more at their respective public process websites!

Public Safety Study Continues Across WestCOG
WestCOG communities are invited to join the discussions for the development of Public Safety Recommendation Implementation Plans.
This follows the creation of the Public Safety Recommendations Report which provides 11 recommendations to potentially improve public safety and was developed in partnership with five communities in WestCOG (Weston, Wilton, New Canaan, Redding, Ridgefield). The recommendations consider PSAP/Dispatch, Data Management, Training Room, and Firing Range
The intention of this panning phase is produce the necessary information needed for communities to inform decision making regarding implementation of these recommendations. Communities are encouraged to contact Mike Towle for additional information.

CTDOT Podcast "Along the Lines" Now Available
Hosted by Bureau Chief of Public Transportation, Rich Andreski. This podcast will focus on current and future issues of Connecticut’s public transportation system. Guests will include advocates, local policymakers, members of the community, and customers of public transportation.

COVID and Long Term Recovery
In a multi agency, multi regional effort to identify and inventory unmet needs in response to COVID-19 WestCOG is providing leadership and coordination. WestCOG Executive Director Francis Pickering serves on both the Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS) Region 1 and 5 steering committees. WestCOG staff assist coordinating subcommittees in the sectors of Business, Jobs, Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Recreation.

Newtown's Al's Trail receives Grant Extension
|
|
The Newtown Bike and Trail Committee received an extension of the National Park Service Community Service Grant for 2020-2021. Work is continuing in auditing Al's Trail and determining connections and collecting historical data.

CTDOT Announces Third Round of Community Connectivity Grant Funding
The CTDOT Community Connectivity Program (CCGP) is a competitive grant program that funds construction of bicycling and pedestrian improvements in urban, suburban and rural community centers. The CCGP is intended to make conditions safer and more accommodating for pedestrians and bicyclists, encouraging more people to use these healthy and environmentally sustainable travel modes.
CTDOT is soliciting grant applications directly from municipalities. Round 3 grants will be awarded on a competitive basis and will range between $125,000 and $600,000.
Program guidelines and an electronic application on the CCGP Website. Applications will be evaluated based on the criteria outlined in the application materials.
- Application deadline: 4:00 PM Friday, October 16, 2020.
- Each municipality is allowed to submit one application.
- Municipalities previously awarded a CCGP grant must have progressed with their projects past the point of submission of Final Design and issued a Notice to proceed or Authorization to advertise their project.
