Growers in Auckland

Growers in the Auckland region and their staff are being advised to use the essential service employee movement declaration form.  Staff can cross the Auckland boundary but are advised to use this declaration.

Click here to download this declaration form.

The movement of goods across the Auckland boundary and through the region, including airfreight, is not be restricted.

Essential Services Status Remains

Horticulture, the production and harvest of fruit and vegetables, as well as necessary associated services, are considered essential services for COVID-19 Alert Level 3. All orchards, farms, packhouses, cool stores, export entities are essential services.

Businesses that previously registered as an essential service with the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) still apply. New registrations are not currently required.

Social distancing of 1m in workplaces should be in place.  The Ministry of Health is recommending the use of masks but this is not required in the workplace.

Click here to access MPI guidance on operating under Alert Level 3.

Issues that we seek to clarify

Three issues have been raised with the Government:
1/  Opening of independent fruit and vegetable retailers and markets.  As with under previous lockdown restrictions, these independent retailers cannot open to the public unless they can operate a contactless operation. Click here for more info.
2/  Possible movement of the Southern Auckland Boundary to enable easier operations.
3/  Setting up liaison with the Auckland Police over boundary control.
Issues 1 and 2 have been raised with the Minister for Agriculture and the Director-General of MPI.

Pukekohe Workshop Cancelled

The Pukekohe Farm Environment Plan workshop has been postponed. Any notification of a replacement workshop will be publicised in this newsletter.
