3D Things To Do
I hope you are all well in these strange times we find ourselves in. I am sure that during lockdown you have all been catching up on some reading about 3D or making some new 3D images or videos.
John Peck our
Journal Editor would appreciate articles or 3D images for future journals.
Our society President - Colin Metherell has been busy putting together his own web site of 3D images of his travels and orchids :

Through out lockdown the
New York Stereoscopic Association put together a weekly entertaining hour meeting each Saturday and in September intend to continue these for the foreseeable future.
You can watch the recording of their previous meeting on their
Vimeo channel, and I would recommend signing up to their newsletter from their website so that you are kept informed of the links and ID numbers of the future meetings.
A new 3D club has recently formed :
Brooklyn Stereoscopic Association they are also doing online meetings and recording them so they can be watched later. Their founding members are predominently collectors of various 3D items and images, whcih has made their first two meetings very interesting and different to most 3D clubs. Check out their site and may be sign up to their newsletter so you are informed when the meetings will be.
The
London Stereoscopic Company currently has 50% OFF their excellent 3D books. As well as several talks as part of Virtual 3D Con mentioned above they are starting doing other online talks. To know when sign up to their newsletter as a
Friend of LSC.
Rebecca from LSC has also begun her own blog with many interesting articles :

The society has accounts on social media these are mainly used for putting out notifications under the account names @stereoscopicsociety on
Facebook and
Instagam or
@stereoscopicsoc on
Twitter.
Facebook has many groups you can join to discuss a variety of topics on 3D, in some respects similar to Groups.io but lots of images are easily included.
Instagram has a particularly good following of people posting side by side 3D images especially followers of London Stereoscopic Company who post including the hashtag #teamstereoscopy.
I will add that if you aren't already using social media it can become addictive and time consuming.
The
Photography Show which should have been at the NEC earlier this year is now going to be a virtual online event in September.
Check out their
web site for full details and to register. Member Tim Goldsmith will be presenting on different methods for using a 2D camera to take 3D photos as part of the Analogue spotlight.
Professional Photographer and 3D Enthusiast -
Andrew Brooks has created some interesting
photography tutorials on YouTube.
Watching his tutorials on Smart Phone photography revealed some advanced
Exposure techniques I was not aware my phone had.
Bob Pryce mentions that he is able to access Amateur Photographer magazine and other interesting
magazines for free online via an affiliation from his local library. May be your local library has a similar arrangement in place.
