Dear Santa Cruz Montessori families,
We are so appreciative of your patience and support as we have continued our planning these last weeks. We are always encouraging the children to think flexibly and adapt to new situations and we have been put to this same test in the past few weeks. We are excited to share with you the Distance Learning Plan for the coming 2020-2021 school year. YCC and Primary programs will begin in person but may need to pivot to short periods of distance learning. Our Elementary and Wavecrest programs will be starting completely in distance learning. The following plan outlines these programs and more sections and information will be added in the coming weeks. You can also expect more detailed information from your child’s teacher as the school year approaches.
At our board meeting last night, discounted tuition rates for our Elementary and Wavecrest programs were decided. At Wavecrest, tuition will be discounted 20% during distance learning; at Upper Elementary tuition will be discounted 30% during distance learning; and at lower elementary tuition will be discounted 40% during distance learning. When a child returns to in-person instruction, tuition rates will return to normal. A family may also choose to remain in distance learning for the year at the discounted tuition rate. We will also be offering an Independent Study Program for families that would like more limited support. The Independent Study Program (ISP) will be offered at 75% of the distance learning tuition for your child’s level. Enrollment in either program ensures a place for your child when school reopens.
We ask that Elementary and Wavecrest families confirm plans for the fall and secure your child’s place as soon as possible by filling out the attached Enrollment Commitment Form. Please fill it out once for each child who will be enrolled in the 1st through 9th grade in the 2020-2021 school year. We appreciate your prompt response as it informs our planning.
We can continue to apply the same percentage of Tuition Assistance to the new discounted tuition rates. If your family is no longer in need of Tuition Assistance due to the discounted rates, then please indicate that in the enrollment commitment form. During this time of crisis, we appreciate those that are willing to reconsider their Tuition Assistance awards.
While the last months have brought many challenges, we continue to be so grateful for our Santa Cruz Montessori community. We thank you for working with us and sticking with us. We are so excited to see your children, virtually or in person, in the fall!
