Thinking Ahead.

With so many new (and changing) health and safety regulations, social norms, and looming unknowns, it is helpful to anchor our thinking about academic and behavioral teaching and learning to timeless strategies.

Below are Four Strategies for Success as we all look ahead to the transition back to in-person teaching recommended by our director,  Terry Scott, Ph.D.
4 Strategies for Success during Times of Transition
  1. Planning- prepare for lessons
  2. Structure and Consistency- create routines through schedules and taught procedures
  3. Reteach- behavioral expectations must be retaught and reinforced by pointing out positive examples of behavior
  4. Review with Rigor- connect previous academic learning to new learning

Student Mental Health Matters

Finding opportunities to support students and families during these unprecedented times has been a priority to many districts.
Mental health professionals from Henderson Co. Schools have been preparing 950 packets of mental wellness and mindfulness activities for students each week through the school shutdown. The packets are sent out with weekly meal pick-ups and available to all students. Project AWARE Coordinator: Jamie Like

Teaching Tip:
Define virtual platform expectations and align them to your established school-wide expectations to simultaneously teach your school's core behavioral expectations and build school spirit, virtually!

This page from PBIS.org highlights resources to support the use of a multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) framework to support students, families, and educators during the transitions back to school during and following the global pandemic in a manner that prioritizes their health and safety, social and emotional needs, and behavioral and academic growth.

The mission of KY-ABRI is to provide support to maximize student success in their home schools and districts. The three pillars of KY-ABRI include collaboration with state-wide systems including KDE and institutions of higher education to organize and share information in a coordinated manner, delivery of direct service and support for Multi-Tiered Systems of Support to all schools, and advocacy for evidence-based practices and data-based decision making through thorough evaluation and dissemination activities across the state.
