NOTICE: For the month of August As circumstances continue to change in our community and in our world, I want to send along a reminder of the current schedule and practices at St. John’s United Church of Christ. We continue to monitor the pandemic situation through our local health officials and in close consultation with our Faith Community Nurse Vicki Keilhauer. At this point, we feel confident in offering worship in person at 9:00am on Sunday mornings while doing so with an abundance of caution.
These precautions will include:
Two entrances to the church will be open: the elevator entrance in the circle drive and the front doors on 14th street.
The church will be ‘opened up’ to provide the greatest amount of circulation possible.
Wearing a face mask is required. Please bring your own. If you do not have one, a mask will be provided for you at the door.
Utilizing hand sanitizer upon arrival and departure is strongly encouraged.
Alternate pews and staggered seating will be marked off. Family units may sit together.
There are no bulletins, hymnals or pew Bibles available.
There is no congregational or choral singing. We are incorporating special music, instrumentalists, soloists, and hymn tunes.
Offering is collected ‘drop off’ style.
Volunteers conduct a complete cleaning of pews, bathrooms, door handles, etc. after every worship service.
If you feel sick with any cold or flu-like systems, please stay home.
If you are in a high risk category, and are uncomfortable in crowds, please stay home.
Services are briefer, lasting about 30-40 minutes
Congregation size is limited to 50 people.
We will continue to post our worship services online – check the website (stjohnsuccmonroe.com) for links to each service.
We will continue in these practices and with this schedule for the foreseeable future. I believe it is worthwhile to offer worship in person, with as much risk removed as possible. Our spiritual health has been challenged as much as the threat to our physical health. Our health and wholeness is important, and we will continue to minister to accomplish that wholeness as best as we can.
Peace,
Pastor Todd
Announcement
St. John’s Membership Committee
Greetings members:
The Membership Committee would like to thank all members who responded to our request for pictures for the directory. Thank you!
For those members who have not submitted a picture, we request you select a favorite picture of yourself and/or family to be included in the directory. The picture needs to be in good taste, of course, and the more recent the better. They can be sent in digital format, if available, to the church office and will need to include your name and/or names of the individuals in the picture. A digital jpeg file is preferred, but we can work with printed photo formats if necessary. We will soon begin to take and schedule reservations from members wishing to have their pictures taken at several sites in and around St. John’s UCC for inclusion into the directory.
If you have any questions regarding this request or project or need assistance, please feel free to contact the Membership Committee at 715-403-1260.
Thank you from the Membership Committee.
Joel Dutenhoefer, chair
Here’s a BIG thank you to those of you who are making a special effort to support our SCRIP program. It continues to generate much needed money for our church. Call Judy at the church office at 325-2165 to order your cards or stop in the church office. Again, thanks for your support.
AMAZON!! If you are an Amazon shopper, go to smile.amazon.com and choose to support St. John UCC (Monroe) and you will be supporting your church financially in yet another way. Please continue to buy Scrip cards in the office. Thanks for your continued support.
Family Promise Update
Our next hosting is scheduled for Oct. 18th through 24th. Director Rick Gleason has it set up so two families can be housed in the new Day Center. They can accommodate up to 8 people. Please keep the homeless and needy in your hearts and prayers. St. John's Mission Committee recently voted to donate food and gas gift cards to Family Promise to be used by families in need. Thank you for your compassion and support.
We will all continue to do our part to provide food and shelter however we can and still keep everyone safe. Thanks and God's blessing to everyone.
If you have questions/concerns please feel free to contact
