Enterprise Data Access

Phase 1 of CEnet’s Enterprise Data Access (EDA) project has now achieved sign-off by all three pilot dioceses.

Traditionally, access to data in applications that are hosted in the cloud has been challenging, subject to change, and not always timely. CEnet’s EDA project will deliver a mechanism for member dioceses to easily access data from CEnet systems, in a timely manner.

EDA will not only enable easy access to enterprise data sets, it will also promote local innovative data and development practice. Phase 1 of the project has delivered a set of raw data interfaces focussing on student, staff & parent information, in addition to student attendance, and school organisation/campus data.

A road map will highlight future data sets and will include an alignment to a global education data standard to ensure the data is structured for the long term.

EDA is further supported by CEnet’s Enterprise Interoperability Platform (EIP) which provides a drag-and-drop style approach to integrating any application, and accessing data.

A special thanks to the member dioceses of Parramatta, Townsville and Maitland-Newcastle for assisting CEnet’s EDA project team in phase 1 of this project.

ACEN Member eBook Consortium Confirmed as Number 1 in the World

In the June 29 edition of the CEnet Member Bulletin, we reported that with a month to go, the ACEN CEnet Member Overdrive consortium was positioned as number 1 in Overdrive's global 'Sweet Reads' initiative, with an impressive 14,545 checkouts.

We can now confirm that for the second year in a row the consortium is number 1 in the world with at total of 24,010 checkouts when the initiative closed on 31 July.

Sweet Reads is based on checkouts of a sub-set of the ebooks available to students. Even more impressive is that students in participating CEnet member dioceses have been checking out around 66,000 books per month.
Congratulations to all the librarians and library staff in the participating CEnet member dioceses and of course, to the avid student readers!

Below is the list of the top 25 books currently being checked out by students in the 14 member dioceses participating in the ACEN consortium.
