Dear Calvary Christian School Families,

We are looking forward to the start of a new school year next week! Thank you for your patience with our team as we have been navigating through many changes and details. Due to current restrictions, we are unable to host our annual Pancake Breakfast and Registration Day. Class lists will be emailed tomorrow! On Monday, August 17th, Kindergarten Orientation will be held via Zoom at 9am and Middle School Orientation will be held via Zoom at 10am. Links for these sessions will be emailed separately. Teachers will be available on Tuesday, August 18th for one-on-one Listening Conferences via Zoom. If you are interested in a 10 min appointment with your child's teacher, please email the teacher directly after the class lists are sent out.

Please read this email carefully as it is full of important information to help your family start the new school year.

ONLINE/IN-PERSON INSTRUCTION
As we previously shared, we have submitted our waiver to open for in-person instruction and we are still waiting to hear if it has been approved. (Click HERE to review our application as well as our Re-Opening Plan.) The 2020/21 school year will begin on Wednesday, August 19th. There are two options for families. We will be providing online learning throughout the year. Families may also send their children to school for on-campus assistance for online learning, also beginning on the first day of school. This is open to all enrolled families. Students will go directly to their assigned classroom where their teacher and other staff members will oversee their instruction. Each grade level will have a set schedule they are following. Students who choose to learn from home will be provided with this schedule so they are able to follow along.

Please click HERE to let us know which learning track you are choosing for your child(ren):
  1. Online Only - My child will remain at home and participate virtually. (If you choose "online only", you will be provided with the curriculum your child needs to work on from home.)
  2. On Campus Only - My child will be on campus.
PARENT/STUDENT MANUAL AND FORMS
Please click HERE to review the 2020/21 Parent/Student Manual. Once you have reviewed the manual, please click HERE to complete your acknowledgement form. This form is required for every enrolled family. You will acknowledge that you have reviewed the manual, complete a Student Code of Conduct agreement, and complete a Google Apps for Education Permission Slip (2nd - 8th grade only).

PICK-UP/DROP-OFF
Students may only be dropped off if they are healthy and symptom free for the last 24 hours, per the list on page 7 of our Re-Opening Plan. Extended day care will be available from 6:30am to 8am and 3pm to 6pm. If you drop your child(ren) off before 8am and/or pick up after 3:25pm, please use the small parking lot on Tustin Ave. to pick up/drop off in Room D4. In the morning, staff will take your child's temperature prior to entering the room. Parents are asked to remain outside.

Students dropped off between 8am and 8:25am must be dropped off in the Fruit Street parking ONLY which is accessible through the Wellington Ave. lot. Parents will enter the rear driveway and travel behind the Worship Center before turning left into the Fruit Street lot. Parents will pull all the way forward before their child(ren) exits the car. (This is a VERY important step!) There will be 3 health stations where students will have their temperature checked and logged prior to entering campus. Parents must remain in the car at all times. Students need to be wearing a mask when they exit the car and it is helpful if they have their backpack and lunch box with them. At this time, students will be escorted directly to the classroom. They will not be playing on the playground in the morning. Please allow for adequate time to arrive and have your child go through the health screening process. We thank you in advance for working with us to insure the timely arrival of your child(ren)!

After 8:25am, the gate behind the Worship Center will be closed and locked. Students will need to enter through the main school office through the Tustin Avenue entrance. Parents will need to wait at the door for their child's temperature to be taken. Parents will not be allowed in the office with their child. CCS staff members will escort children to classes.

UNIFORMS
All CCS students (online and in-person) need to follow CCS Uniform Standards at all times. Please click HERE to view the 2020/21 Uniform Standards.

FACE COVERINGS
All CCS students are required to have a face mask with them at all times. Bandanas and gaiters will not be permitted.

5th - 8th GRADE PE UNIFORMS
At this time, students do not need PE uniforms. When we are able to return to traditional instruction, we will send parents an order form and uniforms will be distributed directly to the students.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES
Students will bring supplies with them on Wednesday, August 19th. Please place all of the supplies in a bag labeled with your child's name. We will have staff helping students carry supplies to their classrooms. Click HERE for the school supplies list. If you prefer to order your child's school supplies from School Tool Box, please click HERE.

SCHOOL T-SHIRTS AND SWEATSHIRTS
If you haven't already ordered your child's school shirts or sweatshirt, please click HERE to complete your order.

STUDENT MEDICATION
If your child needs medication to be kept at school, your child's doctor will need to complete THIS FORM. Please bring the completed form and the medication (in the original packaging) to the school office on Monday, August 17th or Tuesday, August 18th between 9am and 3pm.

HOT LUNCH
At this time, hot lunch will be provided by Cater Tots, Mondays - Fridays. Our school code is CCS333. Click HERE to place your order.

If you have any questions, please call the front office at 714.973.2056. We are open Mondays - Fridays, 8a to 4p.

Thank you again for your patience and flexibility as we work towards a safe and healthy start of school!

Blessings,

Mr. David Seidman
