MINISTER'S MESSAGE
GREETINGS FROM REV IRIS

Dear Living Faith Uniting Church Family and Friends

"...Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. The Lord will fight for you..."
Exodus 14:13-14a

The majestic photo above was taken in the Southern Ocean and depicts a cross stretching over the vast waters. It is a wonderful reminder of how we can find Jesus in the most uncertain of situations. The Israelites became filled with anxiety before they crossed the Red Sea and God reassured them that they need not be afraid for He would fight their battle against the Egyptians. They would be vindicated from those who had previously enslaved them. The same timeless message applies to us today. Regardless of the hurdle or challenge you are about to face, your powerful God says to you, "Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today."

The enemy that enslaves us in our times can be a critical person, a grudge that we hold, an addiction, a wrong belief about ourselves or God. Jesus has the sovereignty and might to part our ocean of fear so that we can cross over safely to the shores of peace. In this way, our entrapments are drowned out by God and we are set free to live for Him anew. Moses had to hold up his staff to keep the Red Sea parted. We need to raise our hands, yes, wherever you are reading this in this very moment, raise your hands up and proclaim, that is speak out loud, "The Lord will fight for me."

A wise Christian once said to me that we must fully hand the reigns of our lives over to God. Is there any area of our lives where we should be handing the reigns over to God so that His powerful Spirit can stretch over our circumstances?

Have a blessed weekend!

Iris

TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE
Enjoy the seasons of Alaska this week as we journey to Anchorage with Richard and his boys. Anchorage is depicted above in winter and in the late summer, on the shores of Cook Inlet, at the foot of the Chugach Range. The floral display heralds spring in Lupine, off the Seward Highway near Portage Valley. The trio can be seen kayaking the canals of the Kenai River Keys in Kenai Peninsula. The ocean kayaking in College Fjord, Prince William Sound, looks like a fun but icy experience! This snowy location certainly makes Queensland feel like a breeze in the winter. Thank you for sharing your memories with us.

Next week we journey to a location in the Great South Land.
